Jim Peace Posted August 13, 2017 Report Posted August 13, 2017 Thinking of going there for breakfast in the morning (Sunday) Anyone been there lately? Plans will be canceled if it takes forever to get a VFR clearance. Is the cafe on the field ....can we park directly in front of it? Any mooneyspacers want to come out? Thank you in advance.... Jim Jim - you can park in front of the restaurant. The restaurant was good when I was there last year. The fuel pumps are out front as well. Be careful on the ramp. It is the airport that Bob Belville managed to clip his prop on a drainage grate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro Quote

Bob_Belville Posted August 13, 2017 Report Posted August 13, 2017 Don McPherson has paved the runway and taxiway since my incident there 4 years ago but I'm not sure whether that included the entire ramp area. I suspect the pothole I found has long since been eliminated. Nancy's Cafe is pretty popular with pilots and the local folks. Quote
Jim Peace Posted August 13, 2017 Author Report Posted August 13, 2017 (edited) I am here now. Taxiways and runway is nice. Restaurent was good. I am not sure I would put 2.7 hours on the tach to go there again but if I was in that neighborhood for some other reason I would stop in. There was some eye candy there..... Nice guys who work for the FBO. They direct you to parking and assist in the fueling. They could use a brand new self serve fuel machine. Landed on 21 with no issues. Departed runway 21 intentionally very well shy of being topped off and due to wind shifting and being just a bit on the heavy side the climb out was a bit concerning with the terrain rising with you. Pealed off to the right to fly through a lower pass instead of flying straight to 1000 feet before turning. and contacted Bradley approach. The black and white Mooney is not mine. It flew in as we were having breakfast...... Edited August 13, 2017 by Jim Peace 2 Quote
prflyer Posted August 20, 2017 Report Posted August 20, 2017 Very nice little airport. I flew in there a couple of years ago with my daughter to take a look at colleges in the Boston area. The manager gave us a ride to the rental car place in town. Very nice service. Unfortunately, did not get to try the cafe as the day we were there it was closed. Fernando Quote
