  1. Now that I see the pictures, I'm surprised at how bad things look for a 300K + airplane. Even if I had the money, I would pass. I think the idea of a nice A36 is a good one for you to consider. Good luck.
  2. Yes, thanks, it is a 65 model. I just got confirmation from Kyle at Garmin that my serial number is covered. Thanks.
  3. That is good news. By any chance did your avionics guy tell you the serial numbers that have been approved? They are not in Garmin's website -- it just says to contact your avionics guy. I have a 1965 E model, that was manufactured in December 1964. It is serial number 499. I'm trying to figure out if we made the cut or not. Thanks.
  4. Thank you. Attached is an older photo before the G5 installs, but as you will see there is no gap. The aluminum bends and covers the gap completely for a finished look. I believe the panels came from Lasar.
  5. Thank you. The prior owner did the flat panel upgrade, so I am not sure of the costs or downtime. I know he did take advantage and rewired a lot of the panel at the time, so it was not just putting in the flat panel. Me and my partner just added the two G5s and the JPI 830 (which we bought used from another forum member here) and that took us about two full weeks of work.
  6. Here is what ours looks like with flat panel -- but not flush mount.
  7. We just installed dual G5s in our 1965 E, but the prior owner had modified the panel already to a standard six pack, so our situation is probably not helpful to you. However, if we can be of help, don't hesitate to reach out.
  8. Great job getting the airplane down. So glad you are safe. Incredibly scary situation. Fernando
  9. I own a 65 M20E, and essentially follow the procedures outlined by Yetti and moonlighting 7. Before shut down, I leave and set the RPM at least at 1200, and then pull mixture out. On hot start, touch nothing -- no fuel pump, no mixture, no throttle -- and crank. As blades start moving I slowly push mixture in. Starts every time. And yes, I use hot start procedure even after an hour or two on the ramp. Fernando
  10. I would be interested as well. 65 M20E Fernando
  11. Glad you are safe and were able to put it down. Nice job handling the emergency!
  12. Looking great Bob! Question, did your 66E come out of the factory with baffles or did you convert it? Mine is a 65 model (manufactured in December 1964) but has the doghouse. Really looking forward to your tests with the new cowling. Fernando
  13. Thanks everyone for their suggestions. We will keep exploring and see what we find. Fernando
  14. Thanks. We will consider it in the future after we see how things go, but for now we are keeping it at 2.
  15. Bob, please keep us updated! Looks great! I would not mind looking at 160kts instead of 150kts . . .
  16. Byron, if that is the case, what is the fix? Some type of install bracket that gets you the right tilt?
  17. Let me try this again, here is the picture:
  18. Question for the group: My new partner noticed that our attitude indicator is not aligned with the sides of the indicator. It seems to operate normally and responds appropriately, but the interior part of the indicator is always above the indicator on the side. See the picture below as it is easier to see than explain. I wonder if when the panel was redone the tilt in the panel was not quite right. I looked back through pictures taken during the past year, and the attitude indicator shows this indication back then. The airplane was flown IFR regularly during this period. IMG_1853 copy.tiff In any event, do you think it is ok to fly with this instrument? If it is off tilt, how can this be corrected? Thanks. Fernando
  19. I replied on the other post, but sorry, the partnership is no longer available. I got a partner a couple of months ago. Thank you for the interest.
  20. Hi BAFlyer. Sorry, no. Found a partner a couple of months ago. Thank you for your interest. Fernando
  21. Thanks Jerry. I look forward to meeting you in person as well in the near future. Regards, Fernando
  22. Thanks Bob. You are too kind. Your panel is a work of art, with great equipment. Thank you also about your comments regarding the cables. I will check the logs and if I don't see any notation about that I will certainly take a close look at them and will consider changing them at annual time. Hopefully I will get to meet you in the near future. Regards, Fernando
