Mooney Summit V Registration is now open

Tyndall approach probably has the most to do to handle the IFR departures.  The only hold up at PC Beaches was for IFR departures mixed with scheduled commercial traffic.  Otherwise it was smooth sailing.

Since we're their biggest event, could we get an hour or so of ramp time to look at everyone's planes??? That's always part of the fun of meeting everyone, looking at planes, seeing what everyone else has done and planning what / how we want to do.

Mike will reply but our experience last year was that because of the airline users of the field and the resultant security, I assume, the FBO personnel were much tighter on going out to our planes. We had to be escorted.

Yep, that's how it is. That's why I'm suggesting early that we request some time to look at each other's planes, especially since most of us park off at the end, around the corner of the hangar.

You nailed it Bob. It is a TSA thing. Perhaps I could get Ron Jarmon or Dr. Ron to work on this however. A number of years ago we had the same issue in Madison with the Mooney Caravan when we all needed to get to the planes. Fortunately, a 757 full of marines returning from the middle east deployment showed up about the same time and their CO told the TSA "Its ok, guys, we got this" and they let us run amuck.

This may just happen. I just got off the phone with Ron Jarmon, who "knows a guy who knows a guy" and we may be able to have an hour or so on just the "Mooney Ramp" on airport day, Friday.

Ron will report back to me and I will let the attendee's know.

Ok, Hank. It is done! 

We can have open access to the Mooney Ramp between 1 and 4 PM Friday, Sept 29th. per Ron Jarmon. Thanks for running point on this Ron! Incidentally, Ron is who will be giving a pinch hitter companion course at the Mooney Summit. Additionally, he will have a simulator that people can rent time on available at KECP if they want to further the experience.

Guys, if your just registering to be registered "in case" it works out, please reconsider. Make the commitment to be there. We spend approx $60 per registered person to produce the event on catering, food, beverages, name badges etc. Pease don't make us waste money as we have to commit to the caterers restaurants etc. no later than Sept 1. Make the commitment with work to attend, make the commitment to drive the 3 hours if you feel uncomfortable flying in that day. Heck, my wife drives 6+ hours each way to help us out. Work has cooperated and I have the time off, I have my hotel reservations at the host hotel and I spoke with Sheltair, plenty of room on the ramp! The only obstacle this year for me will be IMC. This time next year, IMC will just be a filed flight plan away!

Took a chance and filled out the registration that said was for the waiting list. What do you know....it said I'm registered and "see you there". 

We'll be there!!!

Angelos, the registration is currently closed, but you registered as #2 on the wait list currently. The web site does say "registration is currently closed- waiting list registration" I  will notify you when a spot opens up when someone cancels.  No registration is required for airport day Friday at KECP and is open to all!

We will depart AWM on 9/28, with our return flight on 10/2.  This is likely longer than you plan to be in Panama City, but so long as the weather isn't terrible IMC isn't a problem for me.  I'll leave a seat open if you hit an obstacle and want to ride shotgun with us.  That way you might even get some actual in a Mooney.

I have been receiving a lot of texts and emails asking about the Mooney Summit, my well being etc as a result of Hurricane Irma.

1) Alice and I are fine, thanks everyone for your concern. We relocated CarolAnn Garratts famous 201 and ourselves out of harms way

2) Everyone who has ever been in show business knows "the show MUST go on" We will see you at the Mooney Summit V!

I'm just west of you, across the bay from Destin.  I got a whole .78 inches of rain today between 8am and about 6pm, then the sun came out.  It was windier than usual, but that was it.
