Can't get this attention related to my cars, even though it is still the same shop for the last 20 years. The young manager is not so young anymore... :) time in the shop for a car... about one hour per year...

Best regards,

-a-

That's why I also don't take my cars to mechanics. I just replaced an A/C expansion valve yesterday on one of my cars and pulled a transmission today after work on another.  New cars are easier to work on than old if you have the factory manuals and the licensed computer equipment to interact with the car. It's amazing how much data cars log during a problem nowadays. My daily driver just turned over 250,000 and is as reliable as the day it was new

Anyone of reasonable intelligence can do any car work  Tools are just an investment

Here are a few pictures of the camlocs under the engine belly. It's under the firewall. Both had been left open. I tightened the one on the right side. But the fastener on the left side is about one inch forward of the hole on the firewall. The shop changed the nose gear truss because of a small dent due to over turn. They told me that the deep of the dent should be less than 1/32 of an inch or it is unairworthy. So, I had to replace the truss. I guess the problem in the pictures might have happened when they changed the truss.

It looks like they caught the lower two Camlocs on the lower firewall extension.  It would have made the side Camlocs difficult to install.

They should be removing the cowls completely and reinspecting their work.  Someone requires some additional training.

On the back of the wheel well there is a cross member that is held in with several screws that looks like what the camlock should be going into.  I think you will find there is a screw missing in the receiving end of the camlock cross member/back of the wheel well.   In other news that piece could slide more forward and cause issue with the gear coming up or down.

On my first annual about a week after I found an oval inspection panel with not all the screws tightened.   I had a stern talking to myself about double checking myself.

Thanks again for sharing your thought.

Holy spit!  Does the rest of your cowl line up?  What the heck is going on there?

Yes the rest line up.

Clarence, I will call you today to discuss what would be the best thing to do. But I agree that we need to do a thorough inspection at least for the engine area.
