Any idea if grease (landing gear) will eat automotive lacquer?  In other words, if you used automotive lacquer to touch up your gear would it degrade?

For the sake of argument, let's just say that someone may have done one before they  thought about the grease

Shouldn't be an issue, I don't think grease will do much more than stain the paint over a period of time.
