Bonanzaflyer61 Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 New to the form, I'm a bonanza owner/lover but just bought a clean beautiful m20E for a steal of a price so I couldn't refuse. Trying to find a quick drain valve for my IO-360-A1A. Anyone that could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Quote
carusoam Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 Welcome to the dark side of BT... I am going to assume the quick drain you are referring to is for the engine's oil, right? It is a standard Lycoming part updated by several suppliers. I have seen a few get written about around here. The search function can probably find a few threads. Tell us about the art of having multiple planes. My hands are full with just one. Welcome aboard, -a- 1 Quote
MB65E Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 Welcome!! I just replaced mine this year! It is currently approved for oil. Aircraft spruce says it is not, but the part is the same from spruce. CcB-37000 Best, -Matt Quote
Hank Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 This is the only picture I have of mine, from a PowerPoint I made on how to change the oil without making a mess. It's the blue thing with the oil-filled drain tube hooked up to it. 1 Quote
Guest Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 The one in Hank's picture is a Safe Air P5000, or the Curtis CCB37000,. The Lycoming sump thread is a 1/2 NPT. Clarence Quote

Clarence Your eagle eyes almost make me afraid to post any pictures from under the cowling . . . Thanks for the quick ID without me having to dig through the logbooks. Quote
Dham Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 Hank, that's why I like posting pictures. You guys are like piranhas with pictures. I think I will take pictures of everything on my plane and post it. I think It would be the best annual the plane ever had. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2 Quote
MB65E Posted January 5, 2017 Report Posted January 5, 2017 Hank also flys a M20C. The sump is different. On the oil pan on the m20e will most likely have a 90° fitting screwed to the sump. I felt the Curtis drain was more stout than the safe air drain for the application it's in. However, Both are approved. -Matt Quote
