GeorgePerry Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 https://www.oig.dot.gov/library-item/32908 Just incase anyone thought the FAA was doing a good job, the DOT IG said differently last week. Quote
1964-M20E Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 Were you expecting a better result? They are gov't bureaucrats their only goal is job preservation and increasing regulations to justify their postilions and request more resources to enforce the additional regulations. The other problem is those that get appointed to the head potions of organizations like the FAA are lifelong bureaucrats or career politicians and most likely have never worked in private industry. You gotta love it. 1 Quote
MyNameIsNobody Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 Knew it must be a reference to Big G. NOBODY does it better...Doing LESS with MORE...than Big G. Everyone, rush out and update your airplane to ADSB compliant, 'cause you know BIG G will have everything ready by 2020. BIG G-"There is nothing that doesn't require more money that we can't make function more poorly" Because More is Less. Mandating MORE for LESS in a City or State near you! Get some! Feel the burn? That is MORE of your money providing LESS for you and your family. 1 Quote
FlyDave Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 George, Funny coincident that you posted this this morning. I was just reading through the thread on the LOA concerning DA/MDA and the one thought that I came away with was "yeah, we can cut ~ 35% of the FAA's budget". If they really have nothing better to do than assemble the resources including numerous groups of people and committees, studies, field work, etc. to come up with a directive (Is that what it is?) like that LOA BS then they are BEGGING for the US electorate to demand their ranks get sliced and diced. DAVIDWH Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 Can't win a war. Too many attorneys hovering over our generals. Can't provide nation with adequate military support. Defense programs cut to provide welfare $$. Can't educate our children. Teachers unions , need I say more? Can't let us keep our doctor. (Blatant lies) Can't balance a budget. 19T going to 21T. Unable to maintain already constructed infrastructure. (Collapsing bridges and poorly patched roads). Can't provide lead free water for our children. Flint. Can't secure our borders and you just got to love those sanctuary cities. Now, what happened to e-verify? Can't solve the drug issues so just legalize it to provide more and bigger govt. Sort of like the turn to final stall, no recovery here. Can't really solve a problem as a degree in law is only useful for arguing, not problem solving. Engineers, economist and scientist solve problems. Ex. China's ruling class, not one person shot last night and not one death from a narcotics overdose. (Contrast with Chicago) No idea whatsoever concerning economic matters. I think when Maytag moved from Iowa to Mexico, that may have been the last straw. I could go on for pages, but in the interest of brevity, (Don't get me started on taxes) enough said. Quote
steingar Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 I am wondering by what metric the Congressional investigative services are saying the FAA is less productive? There are more domestic flights in this country than anywhere, and their hasn't been a major air crash in America in a decade. How can you be more productive than that? This smells like someone with a very political agenda. 1 Quote
MyNameIsNobody Posted February 1, 2016 Report Posted February 1, 2016 How's the Third Class Medical Reform Coming? Gee, we have to tie that to ALLLLLLLLLL of the funding for the FAA. WHY? This should already be approved by the Senate and on the President's desk for signature. Make sure and get 'r done after I need my medical renewed this year. THAT will be awesome. Not holding my breath. NOT blaming AOPA...just NOT holding my breath. Quagmire... Giggidy. Quote

Clarence I hear folks in Canada like to fly airplanes, make good music, golf and enjoy the outdoors. Being born in Canada sounds alright with me...as opposed to say an island out in the ocean. In Iowa they gather thousands of people in a room. The National anthem is sung and you hear more people singing than the singer with the Mike...then the pledge is sung...by children and again they are nearly drowned out by the voices of those gathered...and then a prayer asking for peace and sound decision-making for our and the worlds leaders...and then Ted, Rand, Ivanka and Carli's husband, a Medal of Honor recipient and others got a few minutes to tell those gathered why they or the candidate that they believed in was the right choice. Precincts then gathered to elect a chair. A hat was passed. Each individual that had already presented his/her bonafides to their precinct to confirm registered put their hand written choice for the next President of the United States in a hat. Democrats? They gathered at their own location and no solid leader emerged as THE candidate. I like the process. I like that Iowa feeds and fuels the world. I like that Rockwell-Collins is in Iowa. Lastly, I like corn on the cob fresh picked and airplanes. 1 Quote
Andy95W Posted February 2, 2016 Report Posted February 2, 2016 It is a uniquely American process, gathering people together even as a blizzard bears down on the state. Very commendable. I'm not sure it would work outside of the Midwest. Quote

Very commendable. I'm not sure it would work outside of the Midwest. Two points. The first, when elections come around my dad always says the same thing. "If you got a committee to come up with the worst possible election process, this is exactly what they would come up with". Second, again we found that the polls didn't mean shit. I think that's the worst part of this entire process, the incessant polls which are more times than not proved to be totally wrong, yet are shoved down our throat to ad nauseum. Quote
DAVIDWH Posted February 2, 2016 Report Posted February 2, 2016 Respectfully disagree about polls not being meaningful. Just finished poll at local airport and results as follows: Mooney 97% Cessna 74% Piper 61% Cirrus 59% Beechcraft 58.6% Grumman 55% Bellanca 43% Aeronoca 27% Luscombe 14% Understand results will not be final until FAA and Insurance companies refer to committee , complete investigation and issue executive actions. Stay tuned!! Quote
