I did too. Had the stec alt and a/p disconnect as well as the PTT Quote

OK, from the PM I am seeing a bolt, washer, nut and set screw. So you just pull those out and the yoke pops off? Quote
47U Posted November 15, 2015 Report Posted November 15, 2015 I think some installations use a tapered pin instead of the 10/32 bolt. If the AD to inspect for cracks in the yoke shaft apply to your model, you might look in your logs and see if you're close to being due. It's every 500 hrs, I think. 1 Quote

The copilot side was a tapered pin. Back the nut off about 3 or 4 turns and smack it with a tapping tool, the pin will unseat, then you can remove the nut the rest of the way. Once out, the yoke is easily removed. Loosen the set screw also. Quote
PTK Posted November 16, 2015 Report Posted November 16, 2015 One word of caution about the set screw underneath. It's in there very tight and needs a high quality allen wrench to get it out. Otherwise the head recess will strip or the wrench will twist! When putting it back make sure you put the appropriate torque wrench on it! That little screw has a torque value but it escapes me right now. Quote

I was playing with mine while watching the World Cup and came up with these. I was debating between powder coating or leather. Had some Spinneybeck leather left over from when I did the interior so decided to use it for the yokes. WOW!!! It looks amazing! Any chance that you may have the process for doing this anywhere in this forum? I tried once and failed miserably :( Quote
DonMuncy Posted November 21, 2015 Report Posted November 21, 2015 I did my own in leather and I like them. But PTK's are much nicer. Quote

Chocks Posted November 23, 2015 Report Posted November 23, 2015 We started doing customized yokes and panels about a year ago. I never thought it would become so popular. The powder coating and leather wrap jobs you guys did, look great! If you are interested in having your yoke done, here are some examples of the things we can do. Anything from solid glossy to flat gunmetal like the one's posted, we can do. 2 Quote

When you remove the original plastic coating from the yokes or door handle, you are left with what looks like sintered aluminum. I sprayed my door handle with metal paint and then a clear coat and have been very happy with the result. I am thinking about doing it to the yokes and just putting some sort of heat shrink sleeve on the horns. Quote

It might look like plastic because of the color dye but I can't tell from the pics. If it's anodizing, you don't want to remove that permanently, because it's what keeps your yoke and handles from corroding. Quote

It looks like they dipped the yokes into something not unlike Plasti-Dip, but a compound that hardens. After 50 years it starts to peel and crack. Not that difficult to clean off. Below is a close-up of the yoke horn showing this. The coating was fairly thick. 1 Quote

If not, I've got some tricks that might work for you. Quote
