M20C aileron trim tabs

my son and I rescued a 1966 M20C out of a hanger in 2013 after setting for 10 years. We have finally gotten it mechanically up to speed and have flown it abut 10 hours in the last 2 weeks. 

I am finding it is flying slightly right wing heavy, doesn't seem to make any difference where the fuel balance is. Both tanks full it still does it. Looking at the ailerons, I see that it has had ground adjustable trim tabs on it at one time, as there are indications of where they have been 

( stretched skin and 4 new rivets) on both ailerons. Can anyone tell me who did the STC on these tabs? Or could this have been a "back yard" attempt to fix an issue that should be rigged out of the controls?

To correct for roll tendency with flaps up adjust the set screw on the outboard hinge of the flaps. For right roll tendency adjust the right flap set screw for pushing the flap down. Typically one to two turns will do. Re-tight the set screw nut. Check the left flap set screw.

Thanks. I will give it a try. I still wonder what the story is behind the "missing" trim tabs on this plane?

There were never trim tabs there. Maybe they were "adjusted" badly and the damage was repaired. Or hangar rash.

does your plane have a PC system? If so, look for a roll trim knob on the turn coordinator. Adjust in flight, turn it slightly counterclockwise to adjust balance to the left.

Before I bend any metal or do anything else I would first verify that it is rigged properly by someone who knows how to rig a Mooney and has the travel boards

Jim.  Someone may have added the tab, even though they are not supposed to be there.  Very likely someone caught it on annual and removed them.  Mine had one installed when I bought it.  The maintenance manual actually tells you how to "bend" the aileron trailing edge to act as a trim tab.  As others indicated, be sure basic rigging is correct.

It would be nice if you could post a picture. I have never seen a trim tab on any Mooney aileron. I have seen static wicks and maybe those are remnants from them being on the plane.

My C had a tab on the right aileron when i bought it. Maxwell took it off and rigged it correctly before I took possession.
