Seems like if you ran your relief tube all the way to the tail cone and had it exit just below the white nav light, there wouldn't be any risk of "over spray" on the airframe. Maybe pressure differential in flight would help suck the fluid out, I don't know. Leaks in the hose could be a real issue though. It would have to be real protected against chaffing as it worked it's way though the fuselage.

Mitch,

My Attaboy check list makes that failure impossible.  A checkilist is only effective if it removes the possibility for any and all error.

Attaboy Checklist:

1) Tear off label

2)  Remove cap

3)  Fill bottle to maximum rim height

4)  Reinstall cap

5)  Toss behind you into right rear baggage area, out of reach of pilot.

6)  Lean forward to adjust for weight and balance.

I just place it in a sick sac, then you can dump it inconspicously. Years ago we had a C150 Aerobat w/taildragger mod, and a 50 gal tank in the baggae area for over eight hours endurance, a plastic funnel, and 3/8" Aeroquip hose running out the fuselage. We got a one time field approval for the funnel, my buddy installed it, I signed off on it.

Has anyone considered using adult depends? My hanger neighbor in his 80's says that's what he uses whenever he's on a long flight. He says their good for 3 pees. LOL!!!

This year, going to and from oshkosh, I just broke down and used the gatorade bottle. A couple obserations:

- Holy smokes, a bladder holds a lot (filling a quart bottle was not a problem)

- You get in tune with your physiological needs (sorry, I guess this may be gross, but before I just would not think about it). If I am making an early morning flight, even if I empty my bladder before takeoff, then invariably it will be full again around 9am

- My enjoyment of long flights went up immensely. The comfort of an empty bladder out-weighs the inconvenience and having to deal with the bottle afterwards... however, I would not really want to take a leak in front of anyone besides my wife (and even then, she's looking the other way).

- I rigged something up similar to the go-girl for my wife to try, and try she did.... but she was just not comfortable enough to make it happen. She still needs to land to use the facilities.

Diapers are for our first few years of life, and if maybe our last few years. In between, I'll skip the coffee and bring an empty bottle.

Alright, this is getting too funny again.

A very good Mooney pilot friend of mine is considering the Pampers route.  He and his wife are going to try them out while watching the 6 o'clock news, in the comfort of their own home, prior to actually using them during a long upcoming cross country Mooney flight.

I suggested they video this and put it on YouTube for us.  Makes me think of Steve Martin in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels!  We have had some serious laughing about this.

If I'm alone....Bottle with the wide mount or Gatorade, if not, 2 hour legs to keep the Captain comfortable (my wife). Oh, and by the way...we call them Grampers :) and I couldn't even get my mom to wear them. She's 75 years old and has to stop every 30 minutes to ...well, you get the picture....That was not a fun flight....3 hour flight from ELP to DAL took over 5 hours with 2 stops in between :(

Well, here is the result of my Mooney friend's trying the Pampers at home!  This is just too funny to me and we laugh about it quite a bit.

They did the experiment at home.  This in itself is making me laugh as I write this.  For the male, the unit held the liquid on the first application.  The second application, LEAKAGE!  For the female, same thing.  But, does the word "mushy" and "bulky" come to mind.

I'm sorry, this just makes me laugh more.  I personnally cannot imagine myself sitting in my Mooney for a few hours in such a configuration.  Maybe this can come under the "those that have" and "those that will" scenario!  I am not one to say never, most of the time anyway, but I can safely safe NEVER for me with the Pampers thing.

Give me the bottle anytime, that's for me.  For the girls, LadyJane does a fine job [if I may speak for her].
