ArtVandelay Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 We should split "pilot error" into 2 categories, pilot error and pilot stupidity, this goes into the later Quote
mooniac58 Posted February 3, 2015 Report Posted February 3, 2015 Hard to believe a commercial rated IFR pilot with 700+ hours would do such a thing. Crazy Quote
201er Posted February 3, 2015 Author Report Posted February 3, 2015 We should split "pilot error" into 2 categories, pilot error and pilot stupidity, this goes into the later Agreed, but that said there is the possibility that it was the passenger that flashed the pilot with the phone and any of us could fall victim to that. The lesson we should take back is to LEAVE THE GADGETS ALONE until you are at a safe cruising altitude and ideally with the autopilot on! Also don't allow passengers to use their gadgets either until it is safe to do so. 1 Quote
hnorber Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Cessna 150 launching into 300 ft overcast at midnight? Not sure they needed to play with the cell phone in order to get into trouble? Quote
Hank Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 Especially when neither IFR current nor night current . . . There are errors, then there are errors! Quote
frcabot Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 The selfie thing seems like total speculation. The NTSB is speculating that because the passenger took a picture on the previous flight. Hardly a foolproof conclusion that a second unproven picture caused the crash. Quote

Actually I dont think the NTSB is putting much weight on that but the media is, Quote

As well, I use the GoPro app to turn the unit on and off. No turning around or reaching for it. Quote
