Guest Mike261 Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 i have been trying to find a fire extinguisher to fit in the cutout and strap bracket under the back seats. I've tried two and the first one was too big for the strap, the second too long. its almost impossible to get a good measurent of the strap assembly because its a little ragged from being stepped on or kicked. in order to get a good measurement it also needs to be under tension which is impossible too do in the cavity it sits in. its going to be a trial and error thing unless someone can fill me in. it seems to be a little more than a three inch diameter. anyone know the size for the canister or have a model number, or even found something that fits securely? as it stands now i have a missile in the seat pocket behind the passenger seat. thanks mike Quote
carusoam Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Your POH may have the details related to your fire extinguisher. My POH indicates a reference drawing in the W&B section. Reference drawing 130328 Does this help any? Best regards, -a- Quote

PTK Posted November 6, 2014 Report Posted November 6, 2014 Mike, have you tried the RT A600? It's 2.5 inches in diameter and it comes with bracket and strap. Maybe you can use its strap. http://www.h3raviation.com/halon-blend-rt-a-600.htm Quote
Guest Mike261 Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 thanks for the replies. the pic above is about what I'm up against but the extinguisher i have is just a little longer and can't get the angle to even fasten the clasp on the strap. looks like it was a pretty small one to begin with mike Quote
FoxMike Posted November 7, 2014 Report Posted November 7, 2014 Mike, I just replaced the fire bottle in my 99TLS. The RT-1200 bottle is still available but has a different handle and did not look like it would fit. I choose the RT-600 which fit OK. When you get a new bottle you also get a new mount. In my case the old mount had mounting holes 5 inches apart. The new mount had the same so it was easy to take the old mount out and put the new one in. Hope you are as lucky. Walt Quote
aviatoreb Posted November 8, 2014 Report Posted November 8, 2014 I have mine clipped between the two seats in the back - the plastic is exposed between the two seats between the cushions and it makes a good spot to clip a thin but longer extinguisher - I am flying tomorrow and I will try to remember a pic. aviatoreb Posted November 8, 2014 Report Posted November 8, 2014 Don't forget to pick up that dime... If he forgets it then that will throw off his W&B computations - esp since it will bounce around in flight. 1 Quote
