Hey everyone. I completed my PPL earlier this year. A buddy and myself are just starting to looking at possible planes to buy. I love the look of these planes and have seen a couple here and there at various airports. However, I've never sat in one or even met the owner of a Mooney to talk to them.

I'd really enjoy and appreciate someone showing off their Mooney and possibly a $100 hamburger run. I'm based out of Sacramento, but I'm happy to meet up with someone at their home field if they aren't crazy far away. Although the 172 has treated me well, I'm ready to move on...of course with proper training by a Mooney experienced CFI. :-)

Looking forward to hearing from someone with access to a Mooney. PM if you are up for drilling a hole or two and possibly grabbing a meal at your favorite field.

Cheers.

Beware, Earthlling.....all who enter here, enter "the Cult".

It's a little bit true.  Most people have a hard time thinking about flying anything else.  The performance and efficiency of a Mooney is almost impossible to beat.

That's what I've hear everywhere and what I've read. I just want to check one out in person up close. I think it would be a little weird to start shopping for a Mooney without ever flying in one.

From what I can tell, I think an M20J would be the perfect plane being that I'm 6'4, but not wanting the added expense of a turbo...or maybe that'll be plane #2. :-)

You might try getting hold of the folks at Top Gun in Stockton. You won't be able to fly but they might have some examples that you could look over. When I was there a while back they had at least five or six in the hanger.

Good luck and congratulations on your PPL.

thinwing:  Unfortunately, I don't know anyone at KSAC or go there. I fly out of KEDU right now. I'd feel kind of weird hanging out in the terminal... :-)  However, I would still appreciate someone showing me their wings. :-)

You have 2 of the best Mooney shops less than an hour away Lake Aero k1o2 and Top Gun in Stocton. I'm sure if you contact them and introduce yourself they would be happy to show some examples that are there for service. Pick up the phone and make a call worst case they say no but I doubt they would. As a potential future customer and since both are close when it's time to get busy with a pre buy they would be your best choice for any CA based Mooney's you might be looking at. Also it would give you a look into more than just the outside and interior.

Thanks. I'll call them both up. Hopefully will be able to sit in one there and maybe run into an owner or two while I'm around...maybe get a lap around an extended pattern with one of the owners. :-)
