Recent member and have not seen any talk of lens rehab. Have 1991 J , always hangared but cloudy lens

Are Mooney light lens Lexan or Plexiglass? A Booth at 2009 Osh Airventure was rehabing aircraft, auto and boat lenses. The results looked good. Any coments on rehab vs purchase new.   Last estimate was approx $160 USD for each lens.

Also: Reading MAC will not have booth at 2010  EAA-AV. Will there be a bulletin board or some maner for Mooney Space residents to leave a contact phone # at MAPA booth ..for those interested in putting faces with Mooney Space members at Airventure??  Also any planned Mooney events a 2010 Airventure??

There is a Mooney BBQ on Sunday evening before the show http://www.mooneycaravan.com/MooneyCaravan/BBQ.aspx

That is probably the best opportunity to meet-n-greet at one time, otherwise hanging out in the MAPA tent might give the opportunity to enjoy some shade and catch others coming or going.

I wet-sanded my landing light lens through a series of grades up to 2000 grit, then followed up with a couple different grades of plastic polish to rehab my lens.

I saw a demonstration at Sun n' Fun from the folks at Flitz. They showed how it can shine up a polished spinner, which was amazing. Then they took it to some cloudy plexiglass and the result was nothing short of miraculous. I immediately bought some and have used it on my spinner to great effect. I also used it on the only cloudy plexi on my plane, which is the wing sight fuel gauge. Did a good job there too. So for $5-$10 it's worth a try.

Flitz is great stuff. Micromesh makes a kit for lens rehab or you can get sheets of it at Rockler or Woodcraft stores. The Micromesh works well on lenses that have gotten pitted/sandblasted.

I don't remember the product, but I picked up a lens refurbishing kit at the local Autozone store that did a great job on my landing light lens.

Had a lot of luck with the 3M stuff from Autozone and McGuire's PlasticX.  Just be sure to use a slow speed drill and don't press to hard.  I first used the stuff on my car headlights and it is easy to warp the plastic by pressing too hard or going too fast.
