Hello.  I am looking for a 1978-1980 M20J.  Newer years are ok.  Run out engines are ok but must have a 2 bladed prop.  Also, a "vintage" instrument package would be a plus.  We are looking for something preferably in the 70-80k price range.

Thanks!

I have 3 blades on my 1977 J. You got me scared a little with the "must have 2 blade". Anything wrong with the 3 blade prop? This is my first plane so I am just curious.

I had the dynamic prop balance done for my 3 blade....smooth as can be.  Pretty inexpensive too, I think it was less than $300

Where did you get it done? Any A&P can do that?

You can get it done all over... but it requires some equipment that might not be in every shop.

It is a *very* good idea to get it done... lower vibration = longer life for just about everything bolted into an airplane...gyros, radios, exhaust system, etc.

Yeah, anywhere that has the system for it.    MooneyBob, you're right about the 3 blade looking cool...  Mine came with it too and I like it; got the polished spinner also, which I think makes it not only look better, but go faster.

I have polished my spinner last week with the California Custom product. Looks sweet.

Its on my "must do" list for any plane any prop combo. Dynamically balancing y Hartzell in Piqua, OH. was unable to resolve the vibration of the new 3 blade they wanted to sell me for my F model in 2004. After a few months of me trying to get to like it, I had them build me a new 2 blade and take the 3 blade off. I have heard of some smooth 3 blade installs on I Lyc 360's, but I personally have never flown in one. Every (hartzell at least) 3 blade/360 combo I have flown in had vibrations. Most of the owners thought they were smooth, however. I understand the McCauley is better and the MT is very nice.
