BigTex Posted February 13, 2014 Report Posted February 13, 2014 We need to take the lesson from boat owners and come up with more creative names. My buddy has a 50' Bayliner with the name Rapture... Thinking about it, not sure I'd want to fly in a plane with that one. 1 Quote
SkyPilot Posted February 13, 2014 Report Posted February 13, 2014 I was going to name my bird "Mary Jane" after my wife, but I decided on "Time Pilot". I figured US Customs would have too much fun with Mary Jane 1 Quote
bonal Posted February 14, 2014 Author Report Posted February 14, 2014 I agree with big tex. I must say I'm kind of disappointed thought I'd get some real great names. Definitely some good ones but not as many as I expected. we even put a couple art stickers of Snoopy in his goggles scarf atop his flying dog house on the tail of 14U Quote
Islandmech Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 Ours is called "Hank"... why you ask? Well after a night of some libations my partners and I were watching the show Californication and the talk came around to the stars name Hank Moody {david duchovney}... with some extrapolation Hank Mooney... and the name Hank was borne. Cheers, Gary Quote
kris_adams Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 I call her Maddy. My wife does as well most of the time. If I'm spending too much time with her (Maddy) the wife will start calling her the Other Woman (I know not too original). Kris 1 Quote

flight2000 Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 Kids named ours "Mo" after the cleaning robot in the movie WALL-E. Cheers, Brian Quote
DAVIDWH Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 With that suffix, I hope you always carry a black cat in the cockpit for good luck. Quote
Amelia Posted February 16, 2014 Report Posted February 16, 2014 My little kids, ardent Dr.Seuss fans, loved the book, Marvin K. Mooney, Will You Please Go Now, and knew it by heart. Since our new-to-us airplane was a 20-K Mooney, they dubbed it Marvin.Somehow as they grew up, Marvin K-Mooney didn't really stick... now it's just 58Hotel, unless I'm giving Young Eagle or grandchildren rides. Then it's Marvin K-Mooney again. The littlest ones think that is wildly funny. Quote

Dkmiata Posted February 19, 2014 Report Posted February 19, 2014 Staying with the previous owners name, "Second Chances." The last owner lost his first wife to cancer. In the year or so after her passing he got the Mooney and found a second chance at life. :^) David 2 Quote

Seth Posted February 20, 2014 Report Posted February 20, 2014 My grandfather flew B-17's in WWII. His airplane was the Lady Luck, and he bailed out over France. The Lady Luck II ditched in the English channel, and the Lady Luck III finished the war. My first Mooney, a 1967 M20F Executive and was "Lady Luck IV." I currently own a 1983 M20J Missile 300. It is technically "Lady Luck V." However, we call HIM (even though the step is missing) by the nickname "Hank" due to the previous owner (PM me - it's a good story). We often call it "The Missile" as well. So . . . Lady Luck V, Hank, The Missile. http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/image/35085-/ -Seth 1 Quote

Wildhorsesracing Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 http://mooneyspace.com/gallery/image/33589-/ After the initial Annual we knicknamed her "The Mooney Pit" but lately when we taxi in the hot sun I was thinking about renaming her to "Hot Stuff" and getting some type of flashy nose art. JohnB Posted March 2, 2014 Report Posted March 2, 2014 I call my bird Romeo Alpha. I know, not very creative, but unique and I'm always calling her that to controllers. Plus we have a dog named Romeo, so there's two Romeos in the family now! Quote
