  1. It works on Chrome, Firefox and Safari - maybe try a different internet browser. Make sure you click on the "+" next to the model.
  2. Go down further on the Support page and select your model and download it.
  3. Because you plastered it all over Mooneyspace . . lol : )
  4. Keeping the value up on Mooneys is a good thing. It makes the new ones seem not as expensive. There's no single thing they could do that would add more to the value of recent Mooneys than to get the WAAS thing figured out for early G1000 Mooneys (2005-2007).
  5. I was planning on seeing if I could free up some panel space and fit in a 2nd IFD540 instead of the IFD440. Turns out it would have been a major surgery on the panel so I went ahead and kept the IFD440 and replaced my GNS430W with it. (The GNS430W is sold.) By the way I could have re-sold that IFD440 at least 10 times with all of the PM's here and on Beechtalk. It makes sense there are a ton of Garmin 430's out there.
  6. I think you got lucky, I signed up for a year on the 9.99 plan but Nexrad absolutely doesn't show up on my 796, even though there's a Nexrad page - it continuously says "Loading", but never loads. Metars and wind direction show up though.
  7. I replaced a 530W with an IFD540 and then just recently a 430W with an IFD440. The resolution is great, You'll like the pinch and zoom. The Avidyne units are much more intuitive that the 530/430. If you have the space I would try to go for a 540 - the extra screen size makes a big difference, for not a lot more money. At some point everything fails. There's an advantage of a new box with new warranty as opposed to putting in a 15 year old box.

  9. Here's something in Flying (click on this and move to page 8): https://books.google.com/books?id=qZJRCyJPbvQC&pg=PA52&lpg=PA52&dq=charlie+woollacott+mooney+bravo&source=bl&ots=eDqRghu2vO&sig=sbTF3BtO30Z-UYJR-ivSPAyJV3k&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0CB8Q6AEwAGoVChMIweTw39HbyAIVRukmCh0c4Qcl#v=onepage&q=charlie woolacott mooney bravo&f=false
  10. https://flightaware.com/resources/registration/N243CW If it was N243CW that was one of the first Bravos and was bought new by Charlie Woolacott . He was from Canada originally and would fly back and forth to Texas - I think he may have lived around Horseshoe Bay. He had a 231 before with "CW" (N231CW )as the tail number. He may have also been the first one to add FIKI TKS to a Bravo if I remember correctly. He used to come ever year to the MAPA homecoming and was interesting to listen to in the M20M workshops that they had. He had a great knowledge of Mooneys. I think he may have sold the Bravo and bought a Mirage or Meridian around 2000 or so.
  11. Hard to do a mag check with a button
  12. No, I believe the STC that STEC has on the 55 in the Mooney installation doesn't allow vertical guidance on a GPS approach.
  13. I think the transponder in the G1000 is a GTX33 if you're getting Mode S traffic. If there is something wrong with it and it has to go back to Garmin, it might be a good time to upgrade to a GTX33ES (Extended Squitter).
  14. "Moron" was unprofessional. "Neanderthal" fits, though, in two of the three (uncivliized, uncouth). "Catalyst" seems appropriate. adjective: Neanderthal 1. relating to Neanderthal man. (especially of a man) uncivilized, unintelligent, or uncouth. "your attitude to women is Neanderthalcat·a·lyst ˈkad(ə)ləst/ noun noun: catalyst; plural noun: catalysts a substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without itself undergoing any permanent chemical change. a person or thing that precipitates an event. "the governor's speech acted as a catalyst for debate" synonyms: stimulus, stimulation, spark, sparkplug, spur, incitement, impetus"the governor's speech was a catalyst for debate"
  15. You're going to tell her to concentrate on things that concern her . . . and then you're going to make the posts you do . . that's one of the most hilarious things I've read recently.
  16. I think the point is that what people are paying according to what I'm reading varies widely. The post was started just to ask what's fair, not claiming that it should be done without fairly compensating whoever does it. Part of the problem could be that people get coupons in the mail to have the oil changed on their cars for $19.99 and somehow they compare that to an oil change on an airplane. It seems like an hour or two is considered fair, anything more than that excessive if all that was done was an oil change. Seems reasonable to me.
  17. There is a 231 on here (N231DH) in San Marcos where the owner wants a partner.

  19. For a couple years I had the chance to fly a Meridian in a partnership. Ever since then I give way to turboprops when I am in my Mooney. The fuel burn down low in a TP is incredibly high. During initial training at SimCom they made the point that the mission in a turboprop or jet is to get as high as you can as quick as you can and stay there as long as you can. I agree some of them have egos but all their flight planning when it comes to fuel goes out the window when a controller restricts their climb initially or brings them down too early.
  20. Wow thanks for the correction. Hard to believe that everyone would not have done the upgrade, with the low cost and the great benefits. In 96 I bought serial #209 from Mooney - it was the first Bravo. Even with the Bravo conversion you still had to manage temperatures - I can't imagine how tough it was at altitude before the conversion.
  21. Many of the TIO-540-AF1A engines that were used in the TLS needed a top end overhaul between 300-500 hours - that was the reason for the Bravo "wet-head" conversion. This one has 572 hours on it without a top end overhaul. I think the Bravo conversion will run quite a bit over $30000. For those who got the Bravo conversion when Lycoming came out with the Service Instruction in 1996 the price was "reasonable" - about $10000. That was the time to do it. In the 2008 price list below Lycoming wanted almost $25000 just for the 05K22169 kit plus all of the labor involved. Lycoming's prices would be considerably more expensive today, 7 yrs later. http://docslide.us/documents/2008-lycoming-service-parts-price- The wholesale Bluebook price on a base TLS with the Bravo conversion starts at $103000. That's on an airplane in annual. This one hasn't had an annual inspection since 2010 and doesn't have the Bravo conversion. It's hard to make the math work on it. 1993 Mooney TLS bluebook.pdf
  22. Probably Mooney's part number vs. Lord's who makes them
  23. Also you might contact Virginia Aviation - they have them for sale on Ebay for 100.95 but only show one left - I'm sure they can get more. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mooney-Shock-Discs-PN-530021-000-/261252017115?hash=item3cd3d56bdb
