  1. The cleanest install on a PS Engineering Audio Panel is to have them make the harness. http://www.ps-engineering.com/docs/PMA8000B_Harn.pdf
  2. There are some people really good with paint that do an excellent re-fresh and blend in areas that are wearing thin and you don't have to go through the whole repaint process, especially since you're satisfied with your paint scheme.
  3. Shoot Hector at Aero Comfort an e-mail and ask him. aerohec01@hotmail.com
  4. Looks like it has a silver label on the back. Point your camera over there and see what it says.
  5. Looks great!
  6. The only thing that can be printed on the placard is the amount of fuel that the POH supplement says you have.
  7. Sometimes the boot up on the 430 and the boot up on whatever device is connected don't sync. Just restart both and it'll probably go away.
  8. If you are exceeding Mach 1 in your Mooney I'd be concerned. On the six Mooneys I've had, one had vacuum speed brakes and four of them had electric speed brakes. On the 1983 231 I had it would have been nice to have had speed brakes since it was the first time I'd flown in the flight levels and had to deal with slam dunk descents at times. I've never even noticed a loose screw on any of the speed brakes I've had. They are solid as a rock. Your landing gear doors are much more likely to fly off than your speed brakes. (but that's no reason to leave your landing gear retracted on descent and landing . . lol)
  9. Get a new Concorde battery and if you keep it in a hangar, keep it on a batteryminder and you'll be set.
  10. They might not have the part but if it's available they will will know who does: http://autopilotcentral.com/
  11. I would guess that if you borrowed money on the airplane, one of the clauses in the contract said that you had to keep the airplane in annual inspection and keep it airworthy to protect the lender. You might talk to the lender and explain your situation, have them look at the bluebook and maybe they could loan part of the money for the tank reseal or bladders.
  12. Guy Ginby the guy who does the great silicone baffle seals also does silicone scat tubing. It looks like this would last as long as the engine. n77gb@msn.com
  13. Check with these guys: http://www.brittainautopilots.com/
  14. You are up to 10 posts now - we can let you in on it . . . . AMU=$1000
  15. 231's are 14 volt and 252's are 28 volt.
  16. In 2014 I bought a set for a Mooney Encore (M20K) it was around $400 with no valve cover gaskets. There are over 20 pieces for the M20M baffle set. It's not cheap but it's great quality and all pre-cut and in my opinion definitely beats trying to make your own.
  17. $475 plus shipping and he throws in silicone valve cover gaskets. He sent the wrong valve cover gaskets at first but then sent the correct ones.
  18. Wow that was fast
  19. Here's another late model J that sounds like a great deal and won't be on the market very long. http://www.controller.com/listings/aircraft/for-sale/17366547/1996-mooney-m20j-201
  20. Make that three for Guy Ginby. I just did mine last month. Just did the first decent flight since that yesterday. The rear cylinders are now much closer in temp to the front and middle cylinders. n77gb@msn.com
  21. If you are being treated in a fair manner it shouldn't be over $500 labor to change all of the shock discs. Whatever you do secularly to be able to afford to own an airplane probably means you can make more money in that time than the mechanic can with little or no grief on your part. That person has the tools, the skills, the knowledge. Spruce retails them for $113.85 each and you need 11 of them. I get 7% off of shock discs and would be happy to pass on the savings to any Mooneyspacer. But do it sooner rather than later. It helps to spread the expenses out over the year and every landing puts stresses on the airframe that would be absorbed better by new shock discs.
  22. Might not be a bad idea for those with TKS to pull the Speed Brake circuit breaker in icing conditions. Very easy to hit the button accidently with a busy stressful work load.
  23. Who did you end up using to install your SB engine?
  24. Can your local IA do an annual inspection? Yes Should he do an annual inspection on your Mooney? Maybe, maybe not. He specializes in Beechcraft as you mentioned. He knows all of the things that every generic IA misses on Beechcraft and probably ends up taking care of things that others have missed. Does he know all of those things on your Mooney? Probably not. Your first annual might be better off with someone Mooney specific and then use your local guy every other year if it's a lot more convenient. However, I still doubt it saves any money though in the long run. What he might miss those years you'll need to take care of eventually anyway. This is what makes a good Mooney specific annual more expensive - many times they are catching up on deferred things missed in previous annuals. You get what you pay for . . . sometimes.
  25. Having an IFD540 myself I'm sure you'll need another wire for that
