I am not an expert on this, but since the STC for the certified GTN750 doesn't show any path for an uncertified GDL39 I'm pretty this installation wouldn't be legal. The GDL39 is perfectly legal to provide advisory information to a handheld device like a tablet, phone, handheld or yoke-mounted GPS.

Rosen visors on a 2000 M20R Ovation? Any fit issue?

It's too bad the Rosen visors don't come with spell check . lol j/k -
Great Adds that have improved your airplane.
LANCECASPER replied to FlyingScot's topic in Ovation Owners
Personally I wouldn't do that. If I was going to add a USB port I would add it somewhere on else the panel. Just as soon as you eliminate the cigarette lighter receptacle you will need it for something - like an Inogen Portable Oxygen generator or something else. In the meantime, the Anker USB outlets that you plug into the cigarette lighter work just fine and you leave the option of unplugging it and using the lighter receptacle if needed. I carry a splitter in my bag incase I need both. By the time my airplane was built they also put a lighter receptacle in the rear seat armrest behind the pilot. -
I used to own an Encore with TKS and this is what it looked like without the trim around the lens.

As has been mentioned Great Lakes (or @OSUAV8TER, one of their dealers) for the lenses. I would highly recommend sending your old lens to Great Lakes to have them trim it to the old lens since these are hand made airplanes. You can get rid of the aluminum trim around the lenses. Mooney got rid of it in the early 2000's. It looks much better. Use countersunk washers and don't tighten the screws too tightly.

I use a Genius Scan app on my phone for scans - that way I can add pages to the pdf easily and I always have it with me. I always keep a copy on Dropbox. I keep my logs safely in fire resistant strong box and do not take them to the shop. Using the Seller's recommended mechanic when you purchase can be expensive the next year. There's a reason the Seller recommends them. Have you thought about getting your annual done at the same shop that did it last year to ease the pain a little? It can take a few years to catch up on deferred maintenance and you can spread the cost out. Taking it to a big name MSC the first year they are going to probably assume you want an open checkbook annual. If you do that's fine, but sometimes those type of annuals are 10k.

Yes, the riveted clamps still need to be replaced after two retorques, and as @Rick Junkin mentioned, that's the only clamp allowed since 2004.

What altitude is the M20K 252/Encore certified for?
LANCECASPER replied to Fix's topic in M20K Owners
You really don't want to go up to FL280 in a Mooney. Although it was legal once it was certified, it would never be certified that way today and it just isn't smart. It's a very inhospitable environment up there. You have 10 minutes of useful consciousness at FL220 and only 2.5 minutes at FL280. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_of_useful_consciousness Foolishly, 30 some years ago in a 231 and then a couple years later in my first Bravo I used to go up FL250 all the time with the onboard oxygen with no backup and pulse oximeters weren't a thing back then. Then in 1999 the Payne Stewart accident turned the spotlight on the challenges and risks of flying in the flight levels and I began to re-evaluate on whether what I had been doing was a good idea. From that point on I had always had backup oxygen. Realistically, flying the the teens gives you a great place to fly very little traffic and your options to get down safely are greater. Higher can be done but you really have to be aware of all of the risks and take it very seriously. -
I put my battery minder on a timer so that it comes on twice a week for an hour https://www.amazon.com/BN-LINK-Programmable-Weatherproof-Accurate-Christmas/dp/B07G9RK4VV/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.xmIgUacps-NYwm7JGZofOqdxSwNo6Hyd26Dx_6Jrl05bStha_OCuDfbY_RvejYhqRWW2LPusNY9r2_pFCcwf2HgJBmMG_ZkWstsG6HmCNGjaqpWqQm2GPDEMuAyzpYzY3qD-iqC0aceSUI128j_NoEdG6_lcjGzHSQartt57v1oPHObD_4Dc_5yuzmlg-ph0RMS9bKjOs8aMOG0KiTM5TPPrt5xKvVhUX9rhcj4uAacFKNOXzfvAW9kVP6MXEqYwVSlwRNj9NWFmM-msg_gfE47J2RwKwRraN_WAmvudUcM.Nd4fW-yo13J5Gr3TiJ3FeQBAYMcTrwOpGPCKuy3cnyc&dib_tag=se&keywords=BN-LINK%2B7%2BDay%2BOutdoor%2BHeavy%2BDuty%2BDigital%2BProgrammable%2BTimer&qid=1743095660&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1

You can send in your Battery Minder and they will convert from an S2 to S5 (or vice versa) for $75.

If you call Don Maxwell he can tell you what they're doing for a fix on these.

2019 - I did, one especially for a Gill Sealed battery. Don't waste you money on a Gill. Friends don't let friends buy Gill.

Same here on a Gill 7243 and even though it was still in "warranty" Gill offered me a little over $100 toward a new one. Not a chance.

Battery ground wire riding on rudder push tube
LANCECASPER replied to Rick Junkin's topic in Mooney Bravo Owners
Looking at it more closely, as the A/P wires travel further away from the servo it's very close to the battery cables. I can't imagine that for reasons of electrical interference that would be good. -

LANCECASPER replied to Rick Junkin's topic in Mooney Bravo Owners
One other thing I notice is that if that was my autopilot wiring from that servo I would want it in spiral wrap to protect it. Nothing worse that chasing down an intermittent problem caused by a chafed wire. (https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/spiralwrap.php?clickkey=14760) -

If you have altitude pre-select you most likely have a KEA-130A. It will say “Encoding” on the face of the altimeter. If you don’t have pre-select then it’s probably coming from your altitude encoder (box). But that may not be why it’s not holding altitude. It could be the board inside of the computer.

Interest in auto inflator for door seal?
LANCECASPER replied to ragedracer1977's topic in Miscellaneous Aviation Talk
That's one of the many problems with assuming something. You assume since I mentioned the legal motor for the Bob Fields Inflatable Door Seal, that I see value in it for a Mooney. I don't. You must have missed the rest of my post: "The manual bulb works great and is simple and weighs virtually nothing and has universal parts that are easily replaceable. This looks like a solution in search of a problem." Clearly I see absolutely NO value in an electric inflator for a Mooney, although others may. I think if you own a Mooney, just reach over, the length of your arm and squeeze the bulb a few times. If you don't want to reach buy the Deluxe Manual version and mount the bulb closer to the pilot. (https://aerocessories.aero/collections/mooney-collection/products/mooney-all-variants?variant=31403794071618). But if you really want an electric motor for the Mooney there's a legal option - just go with that one. That's the only reason I mentioned it. In other airframes there very well might be some value if you can't reach the door from the cockpit, but still just go with the one that's in the STC rather than coming up with an unproven, unapproved solution. That's what I meant about looking for a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. On the subject of your claim to be a Supporter, you're not one. Interesting, you're not even a supporter of the forum, and yet you post an idea for a product you want to sell to members of the forum. You're not open to any contrary ideas about your product and then when you get one, instead of defending your product you attack the person by name-calling (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karen_(slang)). Sounds like your customer service would be amazing. Sign me up for two. -

Or you could just buy the STC’d inflator from @tomgo2 and have a legal installation. The manual bulb works great and is simple and weighs virtually nothing and has universal parts that are easily replaceable. This looks like a solution in search of a problem.
