  1. Can an MB engine be installed in a 231?
  2. Check with Lycon in Visalia ca. They might be able to do it.
  3. Don Kaye might be interested, hopefully he will chime in soon.
  4. N number registered, located in Canada. What, if any headaches to import? At TBO, needs updated radios/panel.
  5. When I had my plane 3 years ago at KMPI. I owned the hanger, paid a ground lease of $63.00 and property taxes about $250.00 a year. Leases were renewable every 10 years. Monthly ground lease was adjusted yearly based on consumer price need. I sold it after 10 years of ownership and made $1,500.00. Ron
  6. My primary instructor was killed, teaching multi engine, I think in a twinkle, friend of my dad was in the back of a beech 18, night fir to low hit a hill. And then I local pilot flying a rough home built, looks like he ran out of gas. He was older and seemed unsafe, I always avoided being in the air with him.
  7. Try Don maxwell, swat, Lasar or your local msc.
  8. I bought a fuel stick for a 182. If I remember correctly, I added about 5 gallons to the indicated about.
  9. As a former owner of an F, in my humble opinion with a useful load of over 1000#’s. I did not need another 160# useful load. would the airplane handle it, yes. Add density altitude to it, it would be just so so. I rejected one takeoff and spent the night in Gallup NM. I was well below gross weight, approx. 450#’s below gross. The next morning, 15* cooler the plane wanted to fly and we went. Most of my flying was in the western half of the country. Home base was at 2250’ with mountains around and summer density altitudes of 5000’. Just an old conservative pilots opinion.
  10. My portable tank was in a carry bag, hanging off of the pilot seat. Main and individual valves were in the middle, just behind the seat. Pilot or passenger could reach the control valves. I always had the main valve off for takeoff and landing, for fire safety. This is just my humble opinion, worth less than .02.
  11. When I updated my F, I put in a 430w, audio panel, Stefan 30 with alt, and gpss and other good stuff. Over $40,000. Then speed mods, Then resealed the tanks, paint and interior. Enjoyed the electronics about 10 years and the rest for a couple of years. Did I get my money out, he’ll no. Was I safer, yes. Did I have more pride in the cosmetic improvements, yes. Sold the plane so I could retire.
  12. Mooney should bye it, update it, zero time it and sell it.
  13. How about spares for a flight school? How about spares for an owners planes? I bet a radio shop could sell them, and nobody would know.
  14. When I bought my Mooney, I had not flown much in 10 years. I had lots of complex time previously. My check out was not as good as it should have been. I learned more about flying my Mooney in 40 hrs, instrument training than the previous 100 hours very. Get lots of good training.
  15. I watched an Arrow almost land gear up, at least it got one down in time. John Wayne airport, no obstacle, they just goofed. Also what happens when you need to land gear up??
  16. I was a defendant in a real estate case in CA. My Insurance company was on the hook for up to $1,000,000.00. As the case went on, I felt that the Attorneys were only defending the Insurance company. I hired a separate Attorney that watches Insurance companies and there Attorneys. I learned a lot. It is a scary screwed up system. Eventually the case was settled. Ron
  17. Top gun in Stockton CA did the gears in mine . Unfortunately George’s closed up, they may have another source. also check with Lasar.
  18. I had my physician give me a prescription. I have had mine filled at local welding suppliers. I have also used fbo’s. In the Fort Smith area, the fob across the street from Home Depot. Fob are more expensive. I have a 2 place system that I would like to sell also. Ron
  19. I had Advanced do the fuel tanks on my F about 4 years. Sold the plane and I have not heard of any problems. Project done on time, on budget. They helped me make airline flight connections. Very pleased.
