  1. I doubt that I have pictures, plane was sold almost 4 years ago.
  2. My 69F did not have the dog house. Same engine and cowling as an E. With supervision install a new set of baffles.
  3. Maxwell aviation in Longview, Dugosh in Kerrville and swta near San Antone?
  4. 69 was the first year of the quadrant. The flap switch was located on the quadrant. I could operate all 3 engine controls and the flaps without my hand leaving the controls. Flap switched were located in different locations with the quadrant. I am a fan of the quadrant, but most of my previous time was in twins.
  5. Try venting the hanger, to maintain a similar temp to the exterior.
  6. I would figure it needs a new engine soon. Any hours you put on it I would consider free. Greg at Advance Aircraft in Klamath Or redid the tanks on my previous F for about $7500.00. I would suggest you call him and get current pricing.
  7. Top Gun in Stockton, and Lasar in Sacramento area.
  8. When I installed Alpha belts in my 69F, with the kit came a bracket that wraps around the cage for the upper attachment point. I installed the retractable style, if I did it again I would install the fixed belts. Passengers were knocking the covers off. Somehow, one was actually lost.
  9. Here in Oklahoma I have several choices for auto fuel. 87 octane with ethanol, 87 octane without ethanol for another 30 cents, and premium 91 octane without ethanol. I am so glad to be out of California.
  10. In my 69F that is what it looked like. Behind the instrument panel. You must have airspeed to raise the gear. It takes very little air pressure to make it happen.
  11. Flying and learning is similar to driving. You do not start in a Porche. You step up to it. Just because you can afford it, does not make it a good idea. For additional info, talk to jfk jr. It can be done. I learned in high performance aircraft, but the log book shows a lot of C150 time for the private. Dad had a Comanche, I had a lot of right seat time and left seat time before my log books started. I was 15 at the time. This was over 50 years ago. Ron
  12. Contact the aopa, ear and I would suggest chrixxer.
  13. Try leaving the pilot window open also.
  14. Many years ago we completed an annual and panel upgrade. Saturday flight airplane was good, radios no. Sunday flight had an engine failure above gmc, just below rotation. All ok, radio techs shorts needed changing. You never know. Radios were good after a cylinder was replaced.
  15. In 1970, dad was flying and landing at Orange County KSNA, and at 10:50 PM landed with a flat main tire. Air Cal 737 on final behind us. Tower, terminal etc. all set to close at 11:00. Fire dept rescue came out jacked up the plane, put a dolly under the main. Towed the plane to the north end and parked it. Removed dolly and helped tie it down. He never got a bill from anyone. expensive tire considering Air Cal fuel, overtime in the tower and terminal.
  16. It’s the floor indicator between the seats, in front of your trim wheel on electric geared planes.
  17. Find the accident reports for Catalina. Read them and learn. I would suggest that a good Cfi go with you as needed.
  18. I departed Grants NM. High, hot, book said ok. I went off the end of runway, gear down 25’ ago, pushing the nose down. Gear finally cycled,, climbed out at about 400 rpm.
  19. Mine was wired to bypass the airspeed switch.
  20. On my 69F, gear speed was approx 70 mph. I had a density altitude situation once and finally got enough airspeed to retract the gear. There is a service bulletin to install a bypass switch, Lasar completed this for me. I sold the plane so I don’t remember which service bulletin.
  21. Run, a new scimitar prop is $10,000 maybe more. The seller is full of…….
  22. Insurance companies represent themselves first. Attorneys represent themselves first. It’s all about the money.
  23. Shadrach, you may be right, I noticed more with the original gears.
  24. I was involved in a commercial real estate lawsuit. I ended up hiring an Attorney that specialed in Insurance law. The attorneys for my insurance company were not happy. Their tunes changed quickly, and they settled soon, well within policy limits. The money spent on our attorney was well spent keeping the insurance companies attorneys in line. Ron
