  1. I’ve been flying my 2005 M20R with the G1000 WAAS and Stec 55X for about 6 yrs. now and have NO regrets. As long as you understand the sequencing when using the 55X autopilot to shoot an approach you’ll have know problems.
  2. I replaced one of my EGT probes about 1 1/2 years ago with an Alcor 86255 and I have a 2005 Ovation with the G1000. I got mine from Chief Aircraft $95.
  3. If you’re going to Marathon for lunch try the Island Fish Co. about a mile down the road. The FBO has a crew car (1) if your lucky enough to get it. No need for life vests your time spent over the water in a decent is only a couple of minutes.
  4. I also just had my prop (Hartzall) overhauled and when we reinstalled it we found the spinner had very little clearance between cowling and spinner. The prop shop replaced the flat washers (3 apiece) between the backing plate and the hub with spacers which he said was the way it should have been from the factory. We ended up removing the spacers (6) and replacing them with 3 flat washers per spacer and now I have the proper clearance again spinner to cowling. As far as I can tell the prop was never removed from the plane so it came out of the factory with the washers not the spacers. I don’t have a TKS system but this may solve your problem also.
  5. My normal takeoff at SL is everything full forward, rotate, once all obstacles are cleared I raise the flaps then reduce the RPM to 2550 with full MP. I cruise climb out between 130kts - 140kts at 800 fpm and this keeps my CHT’s at or below 380. I adjust my mixture as needed to keep my CHT’s at or below 380 until reaching my cruise altitude.
  6. On my ‘05 if one of the speed brakes doesn’t deploy the other side will go up and retract immediately.
  7. I’ve used Absolute Aviation at Massey Ranch (X50) a few times and like them. Tel. # 386-847-1734
  8. I used PHT just recently when replacing my engine and they will probably have a hose kit for yours like the did mine. Very knowledgeable and easy to deal with.
  9. I have the same problem with my M20R 310 hp and use a K&N air filter. The Alt Air light comes on about 70% of the time on takeoff using 2700 rpm and once I pull the RPM back to cruise climb I push the knob back in (pulls out about a 1/4 in) the light stays off.
  10. I bought the Piper gaskets from Lasar which I think were half the price as the Mooney gaskets and the worked fine on my 201.
  11. I used wet wingolojist and Edison did a great job.
  12. I’ve been using 29 gph with the 310 hp and it seems to keep the cylinders a little cooler.
  13. Yeah I tried a 4GB card and it was a no go, had to buy a 2GB from Amazon and downloaded as per the instructions know problem and about 3 minutes sounds right.
  14. I’ve been using Tempest oil filters in mine and buy them by the case (6 in a case).
  15. If you have a M20R you have an IO 550 Continental. When I bought mine it was just topped at around 1450 TT and that seems to be the average. I now have 2140 TT and it’s still running strong but I’m in the process of replacing it with a factory overhaul....just because.
  16. I’m not to sure what the back of your master switch looks like but when I owned my 1980 M20J I had the same problem. Mooney uses spade connectors (push on connectors) on the back of the master switch and every couple of years I would get wild swings on my amp. gauge. I used a screwdriver and pushed the spade connectors in tight and that solved the problem. My master switch had several wires attached to it. PM me if you want I can probably explain it a little better.
  17. After seeing the first flight I’m glad I got out last year and only lost $65.
  18. Well that sucks I was just going to buy it for the heck of it just to help them out but I guess I’ll just have to stick with XM and weather from the GTX345R on ForeFlight.
  19. Number 3 is your lighting strike detector antenna.
  20. Medeco keys are usually just used as an ignition key (late models) which you would have to by from Mooney once you give them the number on the key. The key for the door and baggage is just a simple key the can be made by a locksmith. I would ask a locksmith if he can make you a replacement key if you give him the lock mechanism.
  21. I’ve heard that one way to screw up the magnetometer is to use an electric screw gun when removing the inspection panel just below it under the wing.
  22. I’ve landed at W13 - 1436 msl in the Shenandoah Valley, VA. 2000 ft long a few times in my “O2” 310hp. I can usually get it stopped in about 1600 ft with 2 on board and half tanks by the time I land, you just have to be on your game. Take off in the morning with about 70 gals. of gas and I use most of the runway.
  23. I used the Jet Center last year and found them to be pretty helpful. When I landed there my windshield was covered with bugs and the line guy didn’t hesitate cleaning them off. I went to the FBO the next day and asked if I could use their courtesy car for a few hours (more like 4 hrs) and they just gave me the keys.
  24. I’d like to order 2 Shaw 531 O ring Kits for my M20R, would you please send me your address and I’ll get a check out. Also do you sell the lube for the O ring installation? My phone # 631-885-1253 or you can PM me through mooneyspace.

      Hi Buddy,

Total is $26 and you can make the check payable to Gallagher Aviation LLC. Please mail it to gallagher aviation llc, 8524 Ivy Trails Dr., Cincinnati, OH 45244.

You do not need lubrication with fluorosilicone rings.

      James

  25. I also forgot to add that 7FL6 has 2 self serve fuel facilities and a couple of maintenance facilities on the field.
