  1. One of the things the software upgrade will do is give you FIS-B weather so they told me but I have yet to try it since I use XM weather. I didn’t have any problems after the .37 version was installed.
  2. So while we’re taking about lending, borrowing or renting tools I’m replacing my shock discs on my M20R and in need of the tool for the nose gear shock disc replacement. I’m located in central FL. and would be interested in borrowing or renting the tool for a weekend.
  3. If your airplane is tired down outside in the winter that’s exactly what you should do, less likely to get ice accumulation in your prop spinner. Water should run out the bottom before it freezes. It’s not to much fun getting in your airplane starting it up and the engine feels like it wants to rip itself out of the mounts.
  4. I have a 2005 M20R with the G1000 and looking for a part number for the CHT probe. On start up my #1 CHT X’s out on my MFD an comes alive after my run up and during flight but it bounces up and down on the MFD. A few years ago I had to replace one of my EGT probes with an ALCOR, ALC 86255 and that works on my MFD. Does ALCOR make a CHT probe for my application and if so does anyone have a part number?
  5. I had mine updated by Premier at FXE in December and had know problems but I had to order Terrain and updated Basemap from Jeppeesen before they could update to 0401.37.
  6. C&L repaired my O2 port great job. The reason your port started leaking after a fill was probably caused the mechanic quickly opening his O2 tank to start the fill instead of introducing the O2 slowly. After my incident I always tell them to fill the tank slowly.
  7. To solve the condensation problem just pull the dip stick out a few inches after each flight until the engine cools down a bit, that should solve a moisture problem.
  8. If your going to get the SVT unlock card you might as well get the TAWS-B unlock card also for about $8,000. As far as a software update the newest version is 0401.37. I don’t know all of the new enhancements but one of them is it now allows you to receive FIS-B weather although I haven’t tried it yet because I just recently had it installed by Premier.

  10. This happened to me once after washing the airplane, try jiggling the stall warning tab on the leading edge. I found my tab gets stuck when it’s pushed up to one side.
  11. I had to send mine back to Garmin when I had that same problem and it was also the PFD.
  12. I have found a few leaks using a UV dye Freon 134a and have replaced “0” rings and tightened fittings but now I found the UV dye in one of my condensate lines. Using a sniffer it appears to be the evaporator coil on the right side. I think I’m done with this factory system and am now wondering if anyone has installed a Kellyaero system in there M20R now that I see they have an STC for the Ovation.
  13. I have a 2005 M20R with factory a/c and it looks like one of my evaporator coils is leaking. Does anyone have any ideas on who may have manufactured the system or where I might be able to find a coil? I was also thinking of trying to install a can of stop leak Freon in the system an see if the works or maybe pull the coil out an find a radiator shop that could possibly find the leak an repair it.

  15. If it’s anything like my O2 and you fill it to the top the total amount of fuel in your tanks should be about 100-102 gal. It’s 89gal. to the bottom of the goose neck.
  16. Try adjusting your cowl flaps so that they are about 3/8” open when you fully close them in the cockpit. Cowl flaps are easy to adjust and should help with cooling.
  17. Sounds like a wheel out of balance, that’s exactly the time your going to feel a vibration right after rotation.
  18. I live and fly out of Spruce Creek, 7FL6 which is an uncontrolled field and Fly in community. The rules are NO pedestrians, golf carts or vehicles are aloud on our runway.
  19. I’m not sure this is going to help because the last time I flew to Provo was about 7 yrs ago when I had my M20J. I stopped in KFPR and topped off (you can never have enough few when going down there) filed an IFR flight plan, the BR routes, Freeport, Nassau direct. Miami had different ideas because after Nassau they amended my clearance BR 55V, way to far out so I just canceled and went VFR direct. I filed 11K and you talk to Miami most of the way, I think you lose them for the last 100 mi before you contact Provo approach. Approaching Provo they had me hold…single runway and no parallel taxiway, everybody including the airlines has to back taxi…one reason to make sure you have plenty of fuel. The FBO was great and we stayed at an all inclusive resort next to Beaches, the resort was great but got bought out by Beaches a few years ago. Beaches is a family resort (kids) so we probably won’t be back. There was a small casino not to far away but I don’t think I’d want to walk there at night. The flight was good because you pretty much fly down a string of islands from Nassau to Provo. On the way back we took the same route and cleared customs at KFPR.
  20. All I do is make sure your on battery #1, plug in the GPU, power up the GPU and you’ll hear the solenoid click on and your done.
  21. I’ve been to Canada and all over the Bahamas several times in the past 35 yrs. and have never been asked for the radio station license.
  22. I ordered a case of Tempest AA48109 oil filters last month from Spruce and they said there out of stock but would have them in on 4/25…still waiting.
  23. I got my 2005 O2 with the STEC 55X WAAS upgrade along with the GTX 345R in late 2016 and the software was upgraded to 0401.34. I believe the G1000 with the Garmin A/P can be upgraded to receive FIS-B weather.
  24. I believe the first generation G1000 will not support 0401.37. I have the first generation G1000 with the STEC 55X and although I can switch from XM weather to FISB it doesn’t work with 0401.34.
  25. I got my 3 blade Hartzell propeller and McCauley governor overhauled at Palm Beach Aircraft, Inc back in Nov. 2020 for $4,290.00 and that was for an M20R with 310 HP.
