  1. I have a 310hp Ovation and I have my FF set at 30 and that seems to keep the CHT's a little cooler than when I had it set to 28. Can't help you with your JPI, I have the G1000's.
  2. I put my 2K in escrow, number 1035.
  3. I moved to Florida, 7FL6 about 10 years ago and really enjoying Spruce Creek. The Creek has about 1600 properties including hangar homes, condos, golf course homes and commercial hangars. The 4000 ft X 175 ft runway was just repaved about a month ago. Spruce Creek also has a nice 18 hole golf course if you play golf. The airport has a GPS approach, 2 self serve pumps 100LL and Jet A. PM me if you need more info. Buddy
  4. Robert, I had the same problem with mine the G1000 tach went crazy but the EI tach was fine. Mooney uses cheap connectors on the 3 wires coming from the mag, once I replaced those connectors I had no further problems.
  5. Thanks, just reviewed the STC paper work and the EI tach is optional.
  6. I have a 2005 M20R with the G1000 and the 310 hp was done I believe the following year. I know that the STC called for the EI digital tach to be installed because the MFD tach only went to 2500 rpm. I had the wass and 345R upgrade done about a year ago and also had the avionics shop replace my 2 G1000 screens and with that the MFD now goes to 2700 rpm. My question is now that my MFD goes to 2700 rpm can I remove the EI digital tach because it no longer works or do I need to have it repaired and reinstalled per the original STC? I would rather just remove it if it's possible.
  7. I don't think you'll have any problems at 5500 over JFK, that's the altitude there going to give you anyway. I never had any problems dealing with NY just make sure you get a class B clearance.
  8. Yep, just slide your seat all the way back and that will give you a couple of knots.
  9. Jeff, I don't know if I mentioned this before but I had the same problem connecting my 345R Bluetooth to my iPad and found a fix. In the baggage compartment I removed the carpet from the back wall to access a removable panel that is used when removing the O2 bottle (right side). I removed the aluminum panel and replaced it with a plastic one, the job took me a couple of hours. If you want just remove the aluminum panel go flying and make sure you get a Bluetooth connection before you make a plastic panel. PM me if you want me to walk you through this. Buddy
  10. Give Lasar a call they may be able to help you out 707-263-0581.
  11. I also called Mooney after I got my 2005 Ovation with the G1000 and S-tec 55X upgraded to WAAS and installed the 345R and they told me I would not be able to receive FISB weather on the G1000 with the software that I have. Although there is a soft key that I can use to select xm weather or FISB weather it will not connect. According to Mooney it sounds like they are not going to issue a software fix.
  12. My suggestion would be to tell your IA at your next annual that you would like to do the emergency gear extension your self while the airplane is up on the jacks. Also make sure that you use the POH and go step by step as though you were making a real emergency gear extension. One word of caution after you go through the procedure of lowering the gear make sure the red lever is secured before you raise the gear electrically, if you don't it could cost you a gear box.
  13. Check the inboard and outboard sending unit gaskets there are 2 in each wing. I tried patching my leaking tanks a couple of times when I owned my 201 and it never worked out so I ended up bring it to Edison, wet wing in FXE and he did a great job resealing both tanks.
  14. I believe I read somewhere or there was an SB that the baggage door should be locked before flight, it was a long time ago but I always lock mine.
  15. Try and find somebody with a factory O2 system or even a portable system and try your Scott connector in their system.
  16. Keep flying, I wouldn't replace the tire.
  17. Robert check the 3 connectors again, I had the same problem with mine a while back and found one of the wires was just held in the connector by a strand. Give the wires a tug at the connector and see if one pulls out, they are not the greatest connectors. Buddy
  18. Wet wingologists did a full reseal on my previously owned 201 a few years back and did a great job. I also recommended him to a friend of mine who owns an early Ovation and he did a nice job on his reseal also. Your right about a patch job they never work out, I tried it twice before I finally brought it to Edison. I would recommend him to any Mooney owner with leaking fuel tanks.

A quick question I saw that you once had a problem with your electric trim with an s-tec 55X autopilot and the G1000. I had my electric trim fail today so when I got back on the ground I pulled the trim switch out from behind the panel and checked it with an ohm meter and the switch appeared to work fine but after reading your thread it sounds like there maybe a fuse in the autopilot that blow. If the fuse blows in the autopilot will I no longer have electric trim using the trim switch on the control wheel? If that is the case is it a fuse I can change myself?

Dan, I called and talked to Scott at s-tec he was very helpful and thought it may be blown fuse on the control board and said I could bring it to my avionics shop. John at Daytona Aircraft Services opened up the autopilot and found the 2 fuses to be good but the bottom board had a burn hole in it. The autopilot was sent to s-tec for repair.

Sounds like you found the problem, hopefully it will stay working, I had mine blow about 3-5 times, I put in an inline fuse. Ultimately I ended up with new servos which solved the issue.

  20. I spoke to Paul at Mooney today and we were talking about this upgrade and if I understood him correctly you would also have to have a Garmin autopilot.
  21. I don't know what it is with Mooney's but you should flush out the old brake fluid at least once every 2 years and you won't have a problem.
  22. Danb maybe you have a plastic hat shelf, with my A/C all I have back there is an aluminum wall covered with carpet. If you have A/C your avionics shop might have done it with your 345R install. I flew the airplane this morning and the Bluetooth connection was intermittent but without the plastic panel I never got any connection at all.
  23. I don't have a hat shelf I have A/C.
  24. Sorry I didn't take any pictures I just placed the aluminum cover on top of the plastic scribed around it and cut it and drilled the holes. Again if you PM me with your number I can walk you through it, I just got finished with the install a couple of hours ago.
  25. I spoke to Jake today at Daytona Aircraft Services and he discovered the fix for the Bluetooth connectivity problem with the iPad and the 345R and I now get ADS-B weather and traffic on my iPad in the cockpit. The fix is you have to remove the aluminum access panel for the OX tank in the back wall of the baggage area and I replaced it with a plastic one using 1/8in. If anyone has any questions PM me with your phone number and I can walk you through it. The fix takes about 2 to 3 hours if you do it yourself or less time if you just remove the access door and don't replace it with plastic.
