  1. There are no Js on controller with glass, prices peak at $225k, most Ovations are +$300k. Our planes aren’t necessities, they’re a luxury item, and if you want a luxurious experience of a nice panel, I say go for it.
  2. I’m having problems with one of mine, if my AP can’t fix it that will be what I do. He seem to think (old version 100 series) are fairly simple.
  3. Anyone who has upgraded their plane to that extent is not likely to be selling in the near future. $70k sounds like a good price to me for a completely new panel.
  4. You gotta be kidding? I wonder what NIB prices are?
  5. But could it popped out when impact occurred?
  6. Normally the log entry includes the colors…can you post it? I bet it’s quite lengthy.
  7. They don’t have 1500 hours requirement, so I would think PIC hours flying a Mooney and/or twin looks alot better than hours as a CFI riding in the right seat. Plus you don’t need the various CFI endorsements.
  8. https://championx.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/en-US/ChampionX_External/job/Pilot_R00123503-1?fbclid=IwAR31lKgLzTZfDvjiV20PTYCbHZTXkp-ZO-XBdHnioLd_73vbnsehiqLCFek&mibextid=Zxz2cZ
  9. Or activate it before the crash.
  10. If you’re not in contact with ATC or you are beyond gliding distance to land (offshore or crossing great lakes). But even then you can just carry a PLB.
  11. So you’re going to teach your kids/wife how to fly in the Mooney or they are pilots already? Your kids would probably prefer something like: Do you need to add ADSB? IFR (GPS) capability?
  12. A G5 only has (had?) ability to handle 1 nav, that’s why you’d need a 106 for nav2.
  13. Somebody got carried away with a label maker? G5s work with the stec. First question, how much do you want to spend?
  14. If the owner replaced a cylinder, then he had access to the internal parts of the engine, any corrosion in the engine should have been discovered then. Good luck!
  15. Yep, they’ll make great wall art in a nice hangar.
  16. I can’t imagine flying 3-5 hour flights without an autopilot, something I do often. Edit: by flying I mean maintaining altitude within 100’ and direction keeping needle centered. I find this more tiring than driving for some reason.
  17. If moving up from 172 to a Mooney, they are far less benign. I can manhandle a 172. Next time you practice stalls in a Mooney, instead of gently increasing your AOA and focusing on keeping the ball centered, pull the nose up briskly and ignore the ball…let me know how it goes. I also think J/F will be the worst because they extended the fuselage without moving the wings, resulting in a less nose heavy characteristics. Ks and then long bodies got extended noses and heavier engines to make up for their longer fuselages.
  18. If you’re going with 2nd G3X screen, you don’t need the G5.
  19. Since I use the plane to travel, a single pilot jet would be my choice (Honda, CJ3+, etc)
  20. And I believe these are for short bodies only.
  21. Whatever you do, try out these contraptions on the ground, maybe in the car before taking off and having to deal with a frightened/unruly dog during a flight.
  22. I would check the gami spread, this shows how balanced your fuel flow is.
  23. No bump, that started serial #901 I think.
  24. And while you’re at it, get rid of the unobtainium CB/switches:
  25. Sure: I removed the vacuum system. JPI replaces fuel and voltage annunciations. Gear annunciations replaced by simple lights. Ram air was removed, so no ram air annunciation. So nothing left for the annunciator to do. Edit: your version has extra annunciations, they might be replaced by simple lights, with possible exception of “trim failed”. If you replace autopilot with GFC500, it will have it’s own annunciation on G5/GFX.
