My A&I says its time for a new alternator and I want to buy one from a good company with a reputation for building good units that last.

Plane-Power talks some good talk but does anyone know if their units are built to last.

Also if not Plane-Power whose alternator would you use.

Thanks

I do not have any evidence available about how long they last, but I do trust my AME (ya'll call them A&P) and he recommended the Plane Power alternator conversion for my E model (convert from generator to alternator).  It is what I have now and I like it.

Do you already have an an alternator on your E?  I presume so, but many still have generators.

I've had a PP on my J for almost 3 years now and am happy with it.  I have a relatively new Kelly overhauled alternator for sale too if you want to save some money.

I had a generator overhauled on my C. Then replaced it with an OH'd unit from Spruce...

New vs. factory reman vs. OH... Vs. your requirements.

Since half the cost is the installation and documentation, doing it once with the minimum risk of having to do it again probably drives the decision process towards buying a new one.

Starters are in a similar decision tree.
