ScubaSteve Posted April 4, 2013 Report Posted April 4, 2013 Looking to see if anyone has used Mod Squad in Sarasota Fl. I know they are at the former Mooney Mart site... just seeing if anyone has used them for maintenance. Thanks!
KSMooniac Posted April 4, 2013 Report Posted April 4, 2013 They've been posting here lately, and have a disclaimer that they are not associated with the former principal of Mooney Mart, so take that FWIW. I don't recall seeing any PIREPS here are doing business with them, but I would say they're worth investigation if you need some work done.

He always surprised me.
FAST FLIGHT OPTIONS LLC Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Do yourself a solid and look at Phil Jimenez in Avon Park for your south Florida maintence. He's G2G and you won't be disappointed
fantom Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Phil has been working on Mooneys for at least several decades under his own good name. An excellent central FL choice, IMO.
Z W Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Go see Dave Green in Venice. www.mooneyservice.com. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Parker_Woodruff Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Another recommendation for Phil at AVO...

bumper Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Not trying to be coy, but why would any aspiring MSC go by a perhaps previously tainted name? Whouldn't it be better to start afresh and build one's own good reputation on their own merits? Especially so with the internet makng word of mouth so much faster and more effective.
Marauder Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 I wonder if they purchased the name from him... It is a shame, brand is everything and if the brand is suspect, especially in this small community, it will hurt them. Hopefully, we will hear some good things about them to help offset the previous experience people have had.
KSMooniac Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 You can buy IP without the name. In any case, if they acquired the numerous STCs then it would be a great thing for the Mooney community. I agree with the sentiment about starting with a fresh name, though. Many of those STCs used factory parts, though, and that means they might not be able to do much with them in the near term...
fantom Posted April 5, 2013 Report Posted April 5, 2013 Mod Works (Tim Koons) and Mod Squad (coy) were, I believe, separate entities after they split. It was the now defunct Mod Works that owned those STC's, that are so tied up in litigation, the Mooney factory will be producing jets before they are available. 1

How many parents name their children Adolf?
