My 20 C (1963) has a rather tired carpet with some weird replacemnt in the middle. So I have been thinking about having it replaced, but for my year and model 1963, serial number 2307, the pickings seem slim. So far all I have found is vantage plane plastics who offer a carpet replacement set, cut to model.
Does anyone out here have other possible sources ?

Cheers

Get the carpet make a pattern with the heavy construction paper and masking tape you can find at Home Depot and then have a local upolstry shop cut the carpet and sew a boarder on the carpet.  Keep the shpaes relaitvly simple so the upolstry shop does not hit you too hard on the cost.  Just be careful where your J-bar folds down to retract the gear.  There is very little room between the bar and the floor.  I also glued some 1/4" sound absorbing foam to the bottom cut to be about 2" form the sides.

My current model has two separate pieces one fro each side and a thin plastic in the middle where the J-bar goes.  I'd just make two pieces one for each side.

I think the fabric needs a burn test or something similar.  FAA approved and what not...   Airtex sells fabric too if you wanted to do it this way, but their carpet kits are pretty cheap.

You can also contact Aero Comfort www.aerocomfort.com in Texas. They are top notch and great products. You can send them your old and they do pretty much anything you like. Definitely worth a call.

Can those who have used aero comfort say how much a carpet job costs?  Judging from their website one would think that there main interest is the corporate world.   Personally I did not have a good experience with Airtex with the interior of a Cessna 140 I was restoring years ago but I think for the do-it-yourself budget interior job they may be the most affordable and their stuff is OK if you are not too picky..

Airtex was a good fit for my worn M20C. Hector's work is reputable and nice for an Ovation MSE.

A politically correct way to say it. You get what you pay for. Both resources know the Mooney well, one will make an enviable interior and the other makes a safe well fitting interior.

Of course you can specify nicer or different materials with both resources....

I've had to use Airtex in the past. I hope to use Hector's team in the future.

Best regards,
