sleepingsquirrel Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 I wonder what the Indiana State Police are investigating? Did he have a driver's license? "The incident remains under investigation by the Indiana State Police and the Federal Aviation Administration." Glad everyone is OK! Quote
aerobat95 Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 Glad everyone walked away ok. Do you think this is fixable? Or will the insurance total it? Quote
aaronk25 Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 Looks like engine mount or firewall has damage and obviously the normal gear up stuff but wing looks bad too. My guess unless its insured for 120k its totaled. Has to be 70k-90k worth of damage, but I'm just guessing, from what my gear up costs. Mine was 60k, nowhere near the damage. Quote
The-sky-captain Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 Tom K I hope all turns out well for you. I always enjoy your posts and am glad to hear there are no injuries. Quote
PTK Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 I'm very glad you and your son walked away Tom. Quote
Jeff_S Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 First off, glad to know that all walked away. But secondly, isn't it a bit scary how many links were included in that Kathryn's report? It's just further evidence that anything you put out on the internet is open to all. Something to consider... Quote
fantom Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 Damn strong plane and damn lucky crew...happy to hear you guys are OK! 1 Quote

scottfromiowa Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 There go I.... Glad it was just sheet metal. Get back in the saddle soon and get back to having fun Quote
Seth Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 Tom- Gald you are safe. Get up there and fly again as soon as possible. Even under bad conditions you kept the greasy side down and walked away with no injuries to you or passengers. Things can turn ugly quickly. When possible, and as long as it does not cause any issues with the investigation, and you feel comfortable discussing it, we'd love a descitpion of what occured so that we can all learn from this unfortunate situation. Ego will heal - you'll be the safest pilot in the air for quite some time after this washes away. -Seth Quote
201er Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 Tom, glad you're ok! Hope we can all learn from this and that you'll be back in a Mooney in no time. Quote
KSMooniac Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 Glad y'all are both fine! A Mooney will take quite a beating and leave the cabin intact. Quote

chrisk Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 Glad to hear all were ok. This looks like it was a very scary ride. Quote
aaronk25 Posted January 28, 2013 Report Posted January 28, 2013 Glad your ok too! Love the attitude...."might be in market for new plane" instead of the " I had a incident I'm done flying". One piece of advise, and its worth only what you paid for it. Only beat yourself up for a week. You will run it through your head a thousand times, but after a week forgive yourself and move on because you will never get that time back........I've been there, done that. Quote
Hector Posted January 29, 2013 Report Posted January 29, 2013 Tom, glad you are ok. Learn from this, and then back on the horse! Quote
