robert7467 Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 That is awesome. I am still working on my PPL in my M20C... I will be flying down to Dallas on the 27th for one of my solo XC's. Quote
fantom Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 Congrats to both of you. Doing it in your own Mooney is fantastic! Quote
N33GG Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 Congrats Bob! And, excellent choice on the C Model, if I do say so myself! Quote
KSMooniac Posted October 19, 2012 Report Posted October 19, 2012 Congrats, Bob! Where are you based? I fly to McKinney (TKI and T31) now and then to visit friends and family. Quote

Sauduster Posted October 20, 2012 Author Report Posted October 20, 2012 Thanks Guys. Robert7467-what airport are you flying in to on the 27th? KSMooniac-I am based at 52F. Quote
robert7467 Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 I am not sure yet. Either Dallas Exec, Addison, or possibly Mesquite. I think Addison might have issues without a ramp pass, I am going to call an FBO. Mesquite is where I am going, but I dont think there is rental car acess there. Quote
DonMuncy Posted October 22, 2012 Report Posted October 22, 2012 RBD is my base. It is a lot easier to get into and out of, both by air and ground. It is probably a little closer to Mesquite. I am sure rental cars are available, but since I live here, I'm not sure of the details. I rent my hangar from Ambassador. Give them a call. If you get in a bind, give me a call. I could probably break loose and get you to a local rent-a-car store. 214 207-6744. Quote

robert7467 Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 This is a huge milestone for me. My first instructor, great stick and rudder guy, but no path to a PPL, but he was great to learn how to fly the Mooney with. I just got a new CFI, and a couple of weeks ago he signed me off to a new airport "Olive Branch" and on Sunday I did my first solo class B to OB, then XC to Tupelo with flight following, then back to OB to drop him off, and then to West Memphis (flight following class , and everything went off without a hitch. Now, after 70hrs I can actually use the airplane, and go to Dallas. I am so excited. Quote

teethdoc Posted October 24, 2012 Report Posted October 24, 2012 I'm just starting the CC portion of my PPL and looking at a Mooney to finish up in and then do my instrument in. Who are you guys using to insure a mooney as a PPL student? Quote
Heloman Posted October 26, 2012 Report Posted October 26, 2012 So you get a PPL, and a complex/retract endorsement all on the same day? Awesome! Quote
Sauduster Posted October 26, 2012 Author Report Posted October 26, 2012 teethdoc- I am insured thru Chartis Aerospace. Quote
