I recently acquired an M20F - but there are a lot of screws and grommets missing from body panels i'd like to try and add back.  I've seen a few screw assortments for sale.

Does anyone have luck with the sets? or have other strategies for finding replacements?

Right now focusing on the cabin door, overhead console

Thanks in advance

And Aircraft Spruce is local to you… just down the road in Corona.  For specific applications, look up the hardware part numbers in the IPC and order in quantities of 100… any fasteners in question… toss them in the trash.

Are you after INTERIOR trim screws? (Your 'cabin door' and 'overhead console' made me think that was a possibility.

If so, a quick search at Aircraft Spruce didn't turn up anything for 'kits', but you could try, as well.  If not, I'd just drive down with a couple of samples and ask the guys at the counter; they are helpful if not the friendliest bunch:D

A lot of interior screws, especially if the interior has been redone, are not necessarily aircraft screws. You will have a better time on line or at the Ace Hardware.

If you are looking for exterior screws, I'd be careful buying the kits. I've found wrong length screws in them and there are a few places where too long a screw can damage a control push-pull tube. It's not too hard to sit down with the IPC and make a list and order what you need.

@Wapst, just take one of each screw, washer, nut, etc., that you want and fly or drive to Aircraft Spruce. They can identify them and sell you bulk quantities of each.

You can get fine interior trim screws anywhere. Two months after I bought my F, I flew to Airventure. I went to the fly market with some sample screws and interior washers and bought a bunch dirt cheap. I then spent an evening in the north 40 sweating my baguettes off replacing every interior trim screw.

When and if you get around to buying exterior screws, I second this advice.  There just aren't that many different types of screws on the exterior of an M20F, and it's not that hard to get the exact part numbers from the IPC.  The kits always seem to be a bit off, and even if you had a perfect kit it's not like the kit itself tells you which screws are really supposed to go in which panels.
