The 99-2002’s were some of the worse for tank sealant leaks per Paul Beck. I hear the factory didn’t apply between rib and skin then. In any event, get it checked out and if it’s the sealant, patching will be a temporary fix as it will fail in other areas in short order

Are you asking about the discoloration or the nub sticking out from the wing surface?

The nub is the speed brake drain line.

G100UL:D:D

Kind of looks that way, but I think it would be far worse if he had G100UL in the tank. We would probably be looking at bare metal in some places.

AFAIK Mooney never sealed between the ribs and skins except for a few to try it out.  But they tried to set the rivets with the sealant wet and that did not work well.  It just squeezed out.

Is this sealant then?  No fuel is leaking.

It looks like fuel, and it looks like it's been leaking for quite some time.  Recent fuel leaks are blue from the dye in 100LL.

Agree, it’s fuel.

Thanks guys! Appreciate the quick response. I was thinking of buying but not now. Went to deploy speed brakes and they were inop.  Ughhh.  Lots of inop things that weren’t talked about.

Nope, fuel tank vent line.

Not even close. Doesn’t even look like the fuel vent. The fuel vent line usually has a small tube welded into a larger tube. And it’s in the wrong place.

The rectangular panel that drain comes out of is another indication that it’s a speed brake drain. That panel comes off and you can access the bottom of the cartridge.

Perhaps the OP can advise if speed brakes are installed...

He said above that the speed brakes don’t work.

I suppose that settles it.
