Pilotja5 Posted September 15 Report Posted September 15 Just put a contract on a 1998 Mooney M20J in Treasure Coast airpark. Does anyone know someone who can do a pre-buy in the next couple weeks in Port St. Lucie FL. I appreciate the help. Quote
A64Pilot Posted September 15 Report Posted September 15 (edited) Sorry I can’t help you with a name, but unless it just got to Fl this year, the primary purpose of the pre-buy is to determine the extent of corrosion it has. Every older aircraft has corrosion, Fl aircraft have more and those near the ocean even more and if it spent time outside, we’ll thats another increase. I’m not beating on Fl, I live here. You know you’re old when you realize a 98 model isn’t nearly new. Edited September 15 by A64Pilot Quote

The last 18 J models were made in 1998 with all of the running improvements including the ultraleather-covered fiberglass interior side panels. These ones don’t change hands too often. I hope it passes the pre-buy for you. Quote

I'm sure he can help with the pre buy (and possibly training after or ferrying back). Just PM me if you're interested in his info. He's a great guy and part of the Mooney Safety Foundation too. 1 Quote

Rob is very familiar with late model J's since he has one. 1 Quote
Pilotja5 Posted September 16 Author Report Posted September 16 Thank you so much for the help so far. Yes, please message me Rob's contact and hoping it all goes well too. Upgrading from a C model to a J Model and looking forward to it. I appreciate all the help. 1 Quote
Scott Ashton Posted September 16 Report Posted September 16 +1 for Rob. I flew with him at the PPP in KLAL. Also, sign up for the MooneySummit coming up soon in Tampa. Scott Quote
Schllc Posted September 16 Report Posted September 16 Make sure you look at that one with your own eyes. It’s pretty rough inside. my experience has been that people who treat their things well, do not allow them to get to the state that one is in cosmetically. Quote
Htmlkid Posted September 25 Report Posted September 25 Did you get your prebuy done, if not lmk Im based in west palm and know a few mechanics. Quote
Pilotja5 Posted November 19 Author Report Posted November 19 I appreciate the help guys. Unfortunately it was a little too far gone for our taste. We just got a 77 J model with everything we wanted. Completed a full annual without any issues. Loving the newer J model airplane. I appreciate all the help here! 2 Quote
