Tachometer quit on return trip from OSH.  I wondered if anyone knows where I could get a new sensor or a used one from someone who has removed the Moritz gauges.    The sensor is attached to the magneto and counts the revolutions of the magnets in the magneto.  I am guessing that this is the problem.

I hope you find something to get you by, but this is usually where the crossroads comes.

Patching together failing Moritz senders and instruments with used parts is frustrating and expensive. You'll just find a solution for one and then another fails.

You probably already know this but while there is a rebate going on it's money well spent to do a JPI930, 900 or an MVP50 or CGR-30 combo or  in recent times a Garmin GI275 EIS (usually no rebate). If you go with a round gauge or two you can probably avoid cutting a new panel.

A temporary fix is just to buy a certified tach (and whatever is needed to hook it up to your tach) from JPI or EI (https://iflyei.com/product/r-1-rpm-tachometer-instrument), but that may be throwing good money after bad.

the wires can break where they exit the sensor body. Sometimes there is enough conductor left to solder or crimp as a repair. Also check the connection between the sensor and the extension harness, they are noted for failing there. It only takes a bit of corrosion on one pin to stop the signal to the tach.
