Anybody have any luck with an LED replacement for the forward facing wingtip recognition lights on later model Mooney's since this thread died?

I'm going to try installing a pulse system on mine in a couple months hoping to keep them cooler. And not use them on the ground.

I've replaced a couple of my reco lights - buy some Sylvania 14642 - ERR Projector Light Bulbs and touch them on an angle grinder, making sure they leave an air gap top and bottom when fitted. Note these are 12V bulbs, and if you have a 24V aircraft there are resistors in the wing tip. $3 each, I bought a job lot, but have only used two so far!

I went the pulse route, I leave them on before taking the runway and turn off leaving it, so far no problems, the Mooney versions are special, Whelen LED recognition lights are bigger and won't fit

I just replaced the wing tip Hoskins strobe power supplies with the Whelen ones. They work great, flashes more often than the Hoskins. Great for when taxing in close quarters at night.

i replaced mine with Orion LEDs, very bright, no power supply required, I did replace one when it lost its brightness, we'll see if they hold up, fortunately it was under warranty

Ok, so a flat wing tip guy here dreaming of new wing tips etc....

I have not had a single larger Maglight LED flashlight ever fail, you can focus the lense, replacments are plentiful, shines across the hangar in daylight, and it works on 3 d-cell batteries... Just sayin!!

I'm surprised no one has done this yet...

I'll buy two thanks! Very interested. I already have all LED lights on my bird except for my recognition lights. I would definitely want them to be much brighter that the standard ones, and hopefully less heat. But yes, that would be great, and if it had already existed, I would have bought them a while ago!
