Hi guys (& gals)

Has anybody ever replaced the gear down indicator cover on the floor?  Mine is difficult to see as the plastic is pretty hazed over.  Is it easy to get off?  Perhaps I could try the miracle cleaner for plexiglass and get it to be fairly clear again?  Also, I see on the parts catalog that there is a light down there as well.  I can't say that I remember there being any light that comes on but then again the glass/plastic is pretty hazy.

Thoughts?

How do I get to that bulb?  Is it a GE 327?

Brett:  Having just rerigged our gear I think that plexiglass cover screws in from the belly. I know the bulb fits into the holder from below.  When the green light comes on, it triggers that light to come on.  Pull the bely panel immediately behind the nose gear well and you can get to it.

You can polish the plexiglass with 3000 grit sandpaper, then some "3M Finesse-it II" and a terry cloth towel by hand.

I had the same problem of not being able to see the gear down indication and thought that the window needed to be cleaned or replaced.  After replacing the bulb at annual, I can now see it clearly.

Guys, thanks for the replies.  I tried searching out this subject but for some reason everytime I did a search the site was coming up with an error screen?  Not a problem though, even with the little glitches on this site, I spend more time on this board than anywhere else is computer land.

If I was a betting man, after reading the replies and PM's, I would lay my money on the bulb being burnt out or inop.  My annual is starting on Friday so that will be a good time to replace/check that bulb.  And also try and clean up that cover a little bit.  I have never tried the sandpaper, but I have the Nova 1,2,3 system and it worked wonders on my landing light lens and my position light covers.  So hopefully it will work equally well on this indicator cover.

Thanks again everybody!!  I will let you know how I make out.
