Has anyone seen the Veloce 600 ?

It is a new kit that Veloce is promoting... Of course it looks cool, and the numbers are beyond good... in fact they look too good to be true and I get some pretty shaky vibes from listening to the guy talk about it.

For instance... they are claiming that with TWO 300 hp motors that it will cruise 270 KTAS at FL250 at 75% power burning a TOTAL of 25 gallons... yea, that's right, a 300 HP engine at 75% burning 12.5 GPH....

I have enough experience with engines to know this cant be the case.  My 305 HP tsio520 would burn twice that amount at 75% and my 3 injected Mercury  Verados would do the same.  Any calculator will say as much... So I cant help but wonder if this is a deliberate LIE or the guy forgot to DOUBLE the FF on account of it being a TWIN... or maybe I am missing something.

Why does this sort of thing plague aviation!?!?!

Selling dreams and taking down payments is a standard in the world…

There are funky car companies that do this as well…

Did you watch any of the Raptor story?

Peter demonstrated designing and building airplanes is hard… harder than he could handle… no Raptor kits followed…  the design ended overweight, under powered, leaking engine oil, out of money, in the middle of a farm field… two engine outs… fortunately Peter, an engineer, is still alive…

Elon Musk points out building a prototype is easy… Serial manufacturing is much harder.

Enjoy the dream…

I like the kit corporate jets… wouldn’t touch one with OPM, never mind my own… :)

Never fly the A model of anything…wouldn’t want to try and own anything unless it was Bravo or better…

Their pitch… like a Cirrus Jet…

https://veloceplanes.com/600/

How much like a Cirrus jet?

How many Klapmeiers were still around at the Cirrus company, when the first jet got delivered?

Its a long way from first plane, to one that anyone would dare to own…

The dream dies with the first visit to the insurance company…  “hi, I’d like a quote to insure a….”

Expect that there is an odd story behind this thing… a method of monetizing YouTube videos or something like that…

How else can somebody, or a company, afford to fully develop something like this…?

225hp on 12.5gph is within the BSFC range of modern experimental market aero engines. Lycoming will  build an IO540 thunderbolt with 10:1 pistons. That number is not as hard to swallow, as the rest of their claims. The Aeromomentum 300hp is not shown on Aeromomentum’s limited website.  Also, a lot of the performance numbers don’t make sense. Why would single engine climb  performance be better with a lower horsepower engine? Whole thing looks pretty half-baked/half assed to me.

As I always say. "I will believe it when it is parked on the ramp, sans experimental on the side, with a standard airworthiness certificate along side the white, not the pink registration inside.....otherwise, keep your paper airplane to yourself."
