larryb Posted June 26, 2022 Report Posted June 26, 2022 SATA Airlines into Ponta Delgada. What surprised me was after this event they diverted to another island, which caused its own set of problems. https://share.icloud.com/photos/0418YlWS2aomWKuBlCWNsxwNQ Quote
moodychief Posted June 26, 2022 Report Posted June 26, 2022 My daughter is in Terceira right now. What island did they divert to? Quote
carusoam Posted June 26, 2022 Report Posted June 26, 2022 See if I got this right… You were riding in the back, not driving…. Best regards, -a- Quote
larryb Posted June 26, 2022 Author Report Posted June 26, 2022 Yes I was in back. I don’t fly an airbus 321ER. Only a Mooney for me. They diverted to Terceira and we all waited a few hours before being flown on ATR’s to our proper destination. That was a week ago, on Pico now. It was was the hardest hit I’ve ever experienced in an airliner. It was windy, but not that windy. 1 Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted June 26, 2022 Report Posted June 26, 2022 (edited) I was riding in the back of an AmericaWest flight to ABQ one day. I was in the window seat and had been chatting with the guy next to me about flying (who would do that?). When we were on final I looked over at him and said “we are not going to make it”. He freaked our and said “What do you mean we are not going to make it?”. To which I said “He is too fast to land”. He says “how would you know that”. A few seconds later the power comes on and we go around. “See, I told you so”. So we fly around for another approach and I say “He ain’t going to make it this time either, I hope we have plenty of fuel” The third time was a charm. The captain must have taken over.
