hubcap Posted January 25, 2022 Report Posted January 25, 2022 I flew in to Little Rock on Sunday. We were on an IFR flight plan even though it was beautiful weather. We are getting lined up on the approach course when ATC calls me "Mooney 26E please slow your approach speed to 150 knots or less for sequencing." I thought it was pretty funny. 3 Quote
Mooney Dog Posted January 25, 2022 Report Posted January 25, 2022 "citation 123, .8 please" "We're a citation, .73 is the absolute best we can do" 1 Quote
Phil EF Posted January 26, 2022 Report Posted January 26, 2022 We used to call them “Slowtations” Quote

Mufflerbearing Posted January 29, 2022 Report Posted January 29, 2022 Coming into Provo Utah about a month ago, SLC left me at 9,000 when handing me over to tower. Tower said I was number two, I had to drop 4,000' about 3 miles out and do not exceed 120 kts. Out came the speed brakes, dropped the gear, and full flaps, pointing to the ground. I started doing ss's to burn up some distance when I got the call again from tower to slow down as I was still gaining. I replied that this bird can't get any dirtier and offered to do a 360 which they replied, it'll be fine! I died that day..... 1 Quote

David Lloyd Posted January 29, 2022 Report Posted January 29, 2022 Years ago flying into ROA on the LDA 6 due to 33 being closed for construction. There was a 80K+ wind out of the west, I was kept high at 10 for traffic. Turn left 090, descend and maintain 5300 until established...cleared for the approach, contact tower.... I was just a few miles from the fix, pulled a bunch of power, used a bunch of rudder and came bombing down. Somewhere near the fix tower asked me to slow as I had an 80 knot overtake with a 737 on short final. 1 1 Quote
