Hello!  Does anyone know what the part is sticking out of the neck on the top side of the photo?  It seems that when I turn the oxygen on and it’s cold out, there is an audible leak that you can temporarily stop if you get your fingers right on that thing sticking out.

Started leaking after hydro unfortunately and it’s been back to the hydro place once for repair but still is problematic.

Edit- part in question circled in red.  Also, leak stops when tank is “shut off”

Being a CB, I would just look for a new relief valve.

If you have the skills, (I know you do), C&L Aero will probably sell you one. They've sold me parts in the past as well.

Thanks, I’ve shipped the whole tank twice and am looking to avoid that again by just replacing the part this time if possible!

What is your tank pressure? If it is near the max then the valve may be working properly and may close after the tank pressure goes down a bit.

I would just use this tank of oxygen normally and check the valve periodically. After all you need to empty it to do any service on it anyway, you might as well use it.

Good point, it’s almost full at 1400, but last time I ran it, it went from full to empty in a 1.5 hour flight.  Kind of not thrilled to see that happen again.

The LP relief valve pictures was indeed defective/worn out.

Huge shout out to C&L aero https://www.c-l-aero.com/ who helped diagnose and source the part.  I would highly recommend them for all of your oxygen needs, and I would go so far as to saying I would gladly pay the extra shipping to ship my tank and equipment across the country to work with them opposed to the miserable service I received from a larger company that mostly caters to the airline customers.

Great, how did you get it repaired? Did you have to send out the regulator to C&L or was it an easy fix for you to get done locally?

Done locally. Maybe 10 minutes.  Didn’t even have to remove the bottle or empty the bottle.
