TNIndy Posted December 16, 2021 Report Posted December 16, 2021 Has anyone installed an Electroair system on an F-Model. I'm curious which mag should be changed? I have a 67F model, Continental S4LSC-200 left Mag, Continental S4LSC-204 right mag
carusoam Posted December 17, 2021 Report Posted December 17, 2021 Dozens of good pireps on SureFlys around here… Replete with install challenge solutions for the few that have arisen… There may be an electro-air install with some interesting details around it…. -a-
apriav Posted December 17, 2021 Report Posted December 17, 2021 If you haven't bought the Electroair, get the Surefly. Have had both, never liked the Electroair, replaced it with Surefly. 1
philiplane Posted December 17, 2021 Report Posted December 17, 2021 The Surefly will do the same as the Electroair, at substantially less initial cost, and with less hassles down the road. With the Surefly, you will also use the same spark plugs in all positions, so you can rotate them and get maximum life.

Electroair is good with the plugs I have For optimum results, they prefer that you use their wide gapped plugs, which cannot be used with the magneto. If you keep all gaps the same, then you can rotate them every 100 hours to equalize the electrode wear.

I did see a couple of knots improvement when slightly LOP in cruise at those altitudes, maybe 2-3ktas. I have pretty extensive data before and after. As you said, below about 7000’ theres no difference from a mag. Also, ROP it’s pretty hard to tease out any gain, even at higher altitudes. I will say that if the SF is mx free for the life of the engine, there may be some cost savings from labor and 500 hour mag inspections. 1
