Marc_B
For those that hangar in cold climates without heat, what lubes and cleaning products do you store at home vs hangar. Have a bottle of wash wax all that had some ice in it the other day. Trying to figure out what I should migrate home with me and what’s fine just to leave for the winter here in Colorado. Or just bring it all home and take what I need when I need it? Any horror stories of specific products particularly adverse to winter? marc. Mark89114
I had some car wash go bad during last winters freeze where it went to 0 Fahrenheit here in AArkansas. That was the only product that was ruined. Other random cleaners and fluids all seemed fine.
EricJ
Many products will have storage guidance on the labels, or sometimes there's a PSDS or MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) that has that info. We have the opposite issue in the desert southwest, where heat can ruin stuff, so I usually check the label. We get the occasional freeze here, too, but usually not enough to bother things. Dream to fly
A simple fix I use in ND is an old Coleman cooler. Keeps everything upright and safe from freezing temps. I had hanger temps last year at 01F a couple of times. Sent from my E6910 using Tapatalk
tmo
How does a Coleman cooler keep things safe from freezing temperatures, if ambient temperature falls below freezing for an extended period of time?
Dream to fly
How does a Coleman cooler keep things safe from freezing temperatures, if ambient temperature falls below freezing for an extended period of time?I don't know the science behind it but I have been doing this along with a few other people in the community hanger and non of us have had our waxes, chemicals, paint and even a bottle of water freeze. The hanger has seen zero degree temps and it is not heated. Maybe we are just lucky. Sent from my E6910 using Tapatalk

Hangar ferries…. I blame the hangar ferries. They also tend to fix things on the plane as well.

And here I thought them ferries were what moved stuff around when I wasn't looking . . . .
