Huitt3106 Posted December 9, 2021 Report Posted December 9, 2021 I’m wondering if anyone has an idea of how the current market is for an M20C? I know in recent months it’s been absolutely crazy and wonder if it’s continuing into this winter the same. I haven’t been able to locate a coowner and am reluctantly mulling over the idea of selling N7816V. I’ll post a couple pictures but it’s been updated really well and has an excellent panel: G530W Aspen PFDS-tec 60-2 a/p Lynx transponderEI tachEI CHT/ EGT Not to mention 201 windshield, leather interior, and lower time smoh Thanks! But just looking what's for sale and what people are asking for recent airplanes on the market I've got an idea. When it comes to selling one that's been updated to this extent it's hard to gauge. I'm mostly curious if they're still selling like crazy or if it has slowed any recently. Quote

HawkGT Posted December 9, 2021 Report Posted December 9, 2021 @Huitt3106. The market has really cooled off but luckily I am here to help you by taking this fine Mooney off your hands at a modest price. Lol! The market is still very hot with planes that are priced well selling in hours. Some people are asking ridiculous amounts and those are sitting. The VREF quarterly report indicated a modest slowing from peak numbers in late spring but still showing above average demand exceeding supply. Jimmy Garrison also commented that Jet sales, a leading indicator, remain strong and you can see a lack of inventory on his site. Best wishes if you decide to sale. Quote
JWJR Posted December 9, 2021 Report Posted December 9, 2021 There is a 70C with all the goodies listed on Barnstormers for 82amu It’s a shame that some super high time junk 172’s,Warriors/Archers bring about the same $ these days as a nice kept C/E/F. Too much False over hyped BS information on corrosion, tanks, difficult maintenance /costs and flying characteristics of the Mooneys. Oh well it makes for great value for the buyer…. Not so much for the seller however.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

I had a feeling it was still going hot but hadn't had my eye on the market recently. I would much rather find a co-owner as I don't necessarily want to sell. But the financials aren't making sense for ownership right now (I'm aware they never actually make sense). Quote

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I had a guy come look at potentially buying into the co-ownership and I had to talk him through a lot of the false ideas that people have about Mooneys. He ended up not joining. I was thinking it should be worth the high 70's in the current market as I see old panels and rough interiors listed in the high 60's (some aren't selling of course). I could not imagine paying today's prices for a 172 or others, they're good planes for what they do but not worth what the market is pushing in my opinion. 1 Quote
LANCECASPER Posted December 10, 2021 Report Posted December 10, 2021 The 172s are selling for what may seem like ridiculous prices since they are money-makers in flight schools. They must not be ridiculous prices since the market is paying that for them. Why? The older ones are still a bargain compared to anything that has been made since Cessna started back up again in 1996. So that’s the extra factor in their prices - they are workhorses. With Mooneys or other owner-flown airplanes it’s just a matter of supply and demand. Quote

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The "BS-factor" and its negative effect on prices is a good reason for folks interested in buying a Mooney to (1) make sure it satisfies their mission profile and (2) buy as much Mooney as they can afford and plan on keeping it for a while. That's my m.o. Compare with other piston singles with 1000 lb UL. Mooney's of all models in that class are still a bargain it seems in comparison. 1 Quote
Pete M Posted December 12, 2021 Report Posted December 12, 2021 If your gonna sell, I'd do it now. Once the fed stops buying everything in sight and they raise rates all this money sloshing around will dry up and prices will come down fast. 172 prices are driven by the pilot shortage...mooneys, not so much. The recent rise in engine costs is going to have a chilling effect as well. I think the short bodies are gonna take a beating in the next two years, but, hey, what do I know:) Quote
A64Pilot Posted December 12, 2021 Report Posted December 12, 2021 Remember there are asking prices and there are getting prices, often the prices we see advertised are asking prices, so don’t assume those high numbers are actually selling at those numbers. However having an airplane your thinking about selling now may be similar to a house in 2007, so if your considering it, I’d sell now. Quote
takair Posted December 13, 2021 Report Posted December 13, 2021 A local 152 just sold for $55k. Low time overhaul, but otherwise average. I couldn’t believe it…. I couldn’t figure it out, but I think folks above are correct, the training market is inflating the prices of training aircraft. 1 Quote
tim417 Posted December 13, 2021 Report Posted December 13, 2021 To the original poster, I am in the market for a C model so let me know if you decide to sell! Quote
Hank Posted December 13, 2021 Report Posted December 13, 2021 @Huitt3106, see post from @tim417 above. He wants your plane if you're ready to sell . . . . . Quote
Huitt3106 Posted December 13, 2021 Author Report Posted December 13, 2021 I will definitely update this post if I decide to go that route. I’m going through some last ditch efforts to find a co-owner before I list it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
