hbpil Posted November 6, 2021 Report Posted November 6, 2021 1967 M20C boost pump not turning on. My mechanic is at a different field, so I asked a mechanic at my field to check it out. He said I need a new pump. He quoted me 1995$ for overhauled pump. Sounds excessive, so I wanted to do my own research. I need to identify which one it is. Also, any recommendation for overhaul, or where to buy a new one, would be appreciated. Thanks Quote
Utah20Gflyer Posted November 6, 2021 Report Posted November 6, 2021 Check www.aeromotorsllc.com, they have a good rep for rebuilding fuel pumps for a reasonable price. Also supposedly a quick turn around. 3 Quote
RLCarter Posted November 6, 2021 Report Posted November 6, 2021 The photo is of fuel valve/strainer? 2 Quote
Bunti Posted November 6, 2021 Report Posted November 6, 2021 Your photo is the strainer / selector valve. If you need that overhauled, send it to Lasar in California. But if you need your pump overhauled, remove it and send it to http://www.aeromotorsllc.com/ as mentioned before. I did the same with mine. They charge 450 $. You need to prepay the shipping back to you and provide an UPS return label with your pump. Also payment has to be done by a check. If you need it quick, they may have an overhauled one on the shelf and send you that one as an exchange unit. BTW: The pump they overhauled works great. 2 Quote
hbpil Posted November 6, 2021 Author Report Posted November 6, 2021 Thanks ! I got in late last night hoping to get the model number. I guess the mechanic took the pump with him. obviously, I am not a mechanic. ill get back here when I have the model number. I read some old thread about aeromotorsllc and was wondering if they are still good. Quote
ArtVandelay Posted November 6, 2021 Report Posted November 6, 2021 The photo is of fuel valve/strainer?No wonder it doesn’t turn on. The actual boost pump is located just behind the firewall, pilot side, there’s sheet metal piece that needs to be removed. 1 Quote
KSMooniac Posted November 6, 2021 Report Posted November 6, 2021 In case you don't believe the posts above, send it to aeromotors with a check! They're great. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk 1 Quote
cferr59 Posted November 6, 2021 Report Posted November 6, 2021 I also used Aeromotors and am happy with the results. If it isn't turning on at all, I would verify that you have 12v at the spade terminal that connects the pump to the aircraft wiring. My pitot heat stopped working and it turned out that the breaker failed. 2 Quote

Prior owner Posted November 6, 2021 Report Posted November 6, 2021 Aeromotors is the way to go- not only are they a quarter of the price of a new one, they overhaul it and get back to you very quickly. Pump has performed flawlessly ever since. Quote
hbpil Posted November 6, 2021 Author Report Posted November 6, 2021 (edited) So I went in the logbook to find anything. The pump was overhauled in 07. Reference number mentioned is 4140-00-21 ANV. Not sure what that ANV means ??? Isn’t it usually 4140-00-21-A ? Ill get the pump back from the maintenance facility on Monday, but I want to make some research ahead. also…what’s the story with replacing it with a weldon pump ? What makes them better ? How do I get the equivalent part number ? Thanks for all your help ! Edited November 6, 2021 by hbpil Quote
drapo Posted November 6, 2021 Report Posted November 6, 2021 When I first talked to my Mx about Aeromotors for the overhaul of my fuel pump, he was not very enthusiastic. Then, he called them and found out the way they operate with checks and return fees and he was less than enthused... He relentlessly complied with the hoops and loops and we got the overhauled fuel pump within 10 days, which is good since I live in Canada and have to deal with Customs on both sides! Ever since then, he always sends the pumps to Aeromotors to get overhauled as he's very satisfied with the quality of the work they performed and the overall experience. And my fuel pump, along with every one he's sent, still perform as expected at a third of the cost of a new one! Quote
RobertGary1 Posted November 6, 2021 Report Posted November 6, 2021 Overhauled in 07 seems like a young failure. A good overhaul should last longer. Do you fly around with it on all the time? Quote

Yetti Posted November 7, 2021 Report Posted November 7, 2021 Aerormotors does both Dukes and Weldons. They will redo the Dukes such that they can run continuously like a Weldon. Quote
hbpil Posted November 8, 2021 Author Report Posted November 8, 2021 Thanks ! What kind of paperwork is required from aeromotors that will keep my mechanic happy ? Quote
