Hi all,

I wanted to recommend a nice product that allows me to pre-heat my engine (Reiff engine pre-heat) before I arrive at my hangar. The remote control switch is called SwitcheOn and has 2 or 4 output channels, rated at 1800 watts. I bought the 2-channel unit and I am very happy with it and the support. It is very easy to set up (just scan a QR code using an app on the phone). I have already used it once - I programmed the unit to turn on 4 hours before my flight and was able to warm my hands on the engine cowling when I arrived. The Verizon 5G cell service fee ($50) is included for the 1st year, after that it will renew automatically for $50 on the expiration month, once you upload the billing information.

I just bought a SwitcheOn myself and concur with everything Yariv wrote.  Thus far it's exceeded my expectations.

Just got mine from @OSUAV8TER can’t wait to plug it in. I have an Aerotherm, which is thermostat controlled but I like the idea of having a small cabin heater turned on 3-4 hours before I fly to prevent cracking.

I carry SwitcheOn and I have them in stock. I also am a dealer for Tanis and I have their popular cabin heater. So I control my engine block heater with SwitcheOn and turn my Tanis heater on about an hour or two before I go to the airport so my avionics and interior are warm soaked for startup. It works great.

@Buckeyechuck, I would guess to start the coffee maker for one channel:-)

can any of you recommend a cabin heater?

@Yariv I recommend the Tanis cabin heater. It is a 500 watt heater that you can install permanently or keep it portable. I have mine portable for now and I snake the cord through my storm window. I turn it on about an hour or two before I go flying so the cabin is warm. It is built with high quality electrical components and it is the right size for a Mooney fuselage. I'd be wary about buying a cheap 1800 watt ceramic space heater from Amazon and let that run unattended. The Tanis cabin heater is PMA approved and SwitcheOn has adequate capacity to handle its electrical load safely. I have them in stock at https://www.gallagheraviationllc.com/tanis.html

@OSUAV8TER, thank you for the recommendations. I didn’t realize it was that expensive. So I’ll wait with that purchase for now. The SwitcheOn unit I bought was from you guys, Gallegher Aviation. Thank you.

I had been using the remote box that Houman recommended until T-Mobile killed their service to that platform last year. I have security cameras in my hangar and put a Verizon hotspot on my account. For $10/mth I was happy with that cost until I found out that I could use smart switches to power a bunch of different things in the hangar.

My Reiff pulls 680W and I use one designed for appliances. I have others I use for lights and a dehumidifier. They work great. You can turn them instantly, set a turn on/off schedule and do count down timers. The brand I am using is Gosund. There are a bunch of others out there.

Any ceramic heater with oscillation AND tip over protection will work great. 50$ for good one Amazon. Place on pax floor away from fuel selector.
