Mooney has gone back and forth on the location of the compass. In the late 80's it was taken from the post to the glareshield when the TLS came out, I think the J and K kept it on the post, then later on the Bravos and the Ovations it was put back on the post. It's still on the post in the Ultra Acclaim and Ovation.

Alan, the previous owner of my plane installed a PAI-700 vertical card compass and it is very stable and easy to read. When I recently did a compass swing for the new G3X panel at the rose at Arlington it was pretty accurate, too:

N 360, 030 026, 060 060, E 090, 120 120, 150 151, S 180, 210 210, 240 241, W 271, 300 303, 330 333
