smwash02 Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 Pretty wild story, thank you for sharing. I attached a PDF for easier reading for others. Seawind Saga_ Pilot who crashed in Lake Michigan had 7 crashes in 7 days.pdf Quote
kortopates Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 Most extreme Get-home-itis story I've ever read. But very unusual to see such a happy ending! "But Collier said the Seawind wasn't insured. And the experience was so traumatic, he doesn't see himself piloting an airplane again." 2 1 Quote
dzeleski Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 This guy must have just figured out he cant stare at the sun a few days before crash #1. Quote

0TreeLemur Posted July 30, 2021 Report Posted July 30, 2021 What really got me, according to his own words, it wasn't until crash #7 that he actually thought he might die... Cajones. Quote

Guest Posted July 31, 2021 Report Posted July 31, 2021 An idiot if there ever was one. Hope gives up his flying dreams. Clarence Quote
PT20J Posted August 1, 2021 Report Posted August 1, 2021 Always quit after an odd number of crashes. 1 5 Quote
carusoam Posted August 1, 2021 Report Posted August 1, 2021 Skip just earned the subtle understatement of the year award! One is a good odd number to stop after… Collect some thoughts, check a few things, fix things properly, get your head out of where it doesn’t belong… while getting your head where it does belong…. Maybe even get some actual transition training to go with that…. Done properly, it may take a few weeks just to fix the physical damage… If there was a reason to skip all of the expenses related to doing it the right way… The cost of doing it this way was a lost 90amu plane… that was reported to be uninsured… Too many loose ends not tied down with this one… Best regards, -a- Quote
Smiles201 Posted August 4, 2021 Report Posted August 4, 2021 He appears to be demented. Did I see age 88? He had just enough cognitive ability to buy and fly, to some extent, everything else shows poor judgment, and foggy thinking skills. Quote

Browncbr1 Posted August 4, 2021 Report Posted August 4, 2021 I'm not sure which takes more balls... to crash 7 times or to admit it and tell the story for the whole world to hear. wow 1 Quote

Will.iam Posted August 18, 2021 Report Posted August 18, 2021 It’s amazing how sometimes a ramp check can go sideways and the airplane is grounded and pilot license revoked. Then you read about this numbnut and the FAA kept letting it slide after multiple accidents. Some people are just lucky. Quote
Canadian Gal Posted January 21, 2023 Report Posted January 21, 2023 Wow! Just wow! I thought this had to be a joke, but maybe it is real. I made myself a promise back when I was a student pilot, that if I ever crash and survive, I'll stop flying, and just be glad to be alive. Quote
