I am going to have my new panels powder coated gray with white silkscreened legends as a number or others here have done.

It occurs to me that, over time, it might be necessary to touch up a scratch or paint a replacement screw head or some such. Has anyone found a gray powder coat color that matches some commonly available touch up paint?

I would run this in the other direction.  Have them powder coat a tiny chunk of metal that you will keep for color matching.  Keep that in your hangar.  Any good sized car parts store these days has color matching paint capabilities.  They can optically scan the piece of metal (usually the hood of your car) and compute how to mix paints for the match and then give you a custom batch of pant, even in a touch up bottle, or a rattle can or whatever you want.

So then choose your favorite color and go with that.

Here's what it looked like the last time I tried that.

Funny

when i lived in FL, I have noticed that all older red Japanese cars had a faded paint . Regardless of the make.

European orAmerican not so much. When i was researching to paint my plane, I found out red was more expensive and most sensitive.

As for powder coating: it is not easy to touch up like the paint is.

The powder coating brand that the avionics shop used has matching spray paint cans available. They gave me a partial can so if I ever have to touch something up, I can.

Also they put a heavy white coat under the gray powder coat. Their CNC machine engraves the letters through the gray into the white for the letters

^This.    It can be touched up, but it never really matches.   The color might match, but it's hard to cover flaws or rework.
