NOT my experience when I lost my medical.  I made one call to OKC, yes I sat on hold for 15-20 minutes, they emailed me a new medical that day.  I don't recall how long it took to get the 'real' one in the mail, but I was good to go with the emailed one until it did.

Less work than getting a driver's license from California DMV, that's for certain!

Good to hear they’ll email it now. Just make sure once you print it you don’t photocopy jt.

This seems to be a universal challenge that extends far beyond the FAA...

There is a whole company making great strides in electronic signed documents... called Docusign...

PP thoughts only, not a stock seller of docusign that I know of...

DocuSign is one of a number of companies which provide electronic signature services. It is probably the most recognized and widely used for both electronic and digital signatures.

BTW, speaking of the FAA, it will accept digitally signed Bills of Sale and aircraft registration applications.

And some electronic Logbook providers, including MyFlightbook, have electronic signature capability.

The copy is more constant than the original. People sign with varied pressure on the pen

I'll grant the FBI crime lab could tell the difference, but I'll still put up a tank of AvGas that no human is going to be able to look at the little piece of cheap folded up printer paper that's been riding around in my George Costanza wallet for the last year, and know if it's a copy or not. And that includes @GeeBee:)

My last two FR's, my Commercial rating and the recent tailwheel endorsement, are all just electronic signatures in my ForeFlight log book.
