Right - I have heard similarly - what are the rules then - its orphaned now right - so user produced/ackquired parts are they allowed?  And goodness knows there are many car shops that know how to overhaul and maintain porche engines.

The Porsche was smoother, quieter, easier to fly (one lever), but the nail in the coffin of the M20L is that it was slower than the 201 which was less expensive.

There were multiple PFM’s flying at “Flugfest” in Germany as recently as 2018.  There is YouTube video of the event.  If you search Mooney PFM there are multiple takeoff and flyby videos.  The sound is VERY nice coming out of the PFM.  Too bad the marriage ended in divorce and destruction...Could of been something special in “fully developed form”.  Both entities survive to fight on with paddles needed for Mooney and SUV’s providing the cash infusion for Porsche...as well as Audi/VW merger.

Since its orphaned - I wonder if some parts could be custom made or otherwise modified from car parts?

Here in the US to be legal, that would require an STC or Field Approved modification through local FSDO...both would likely be very expensive and time consuming

had the chance to fly a Porsche, push the u shaped throttle to go fast ,pull back to go slow , no air cooling worries, its automatic, no fuel adjustments, its automatic. got to watch the valve adjustment most complicated procedure, took the guy about 4 hrs to adjust gear train lash, there were 2 persons that were qualified to do gear train adjustments on the Porsche Mooney. one on the east coast and one on the west coast.also used automotive spec. oil
